Dick Clark, the creator of “American Bandstand” and “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” died Wednesday morning.

He was 82.

Clark suffered a massive heart attack after entering St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica on Tuesday night for an outpatient procedure, his family said in a statement.

Attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

Clark had suffered a stroke in 2004, which forced him to significantly curtail his hosting of “New Years’ Rockin’ Eve,” a show he created in 1972.

Long dubbed “the world’s oldest teenager” because of his boyish appearance, Clark bridged the rebellious new music scene and traditional show business, and was equally comfortable whether chatting about music with Sam Cooke or bantering with Ed McMahon about TV bloopers.

“It’s got a good beat, and you can dance to it.”

One major plus….I do get to go to church tonight, and will be able to continue my experiment in gardening for the next couple of days.    Although, come to think of it, I HAVE been a mite slow and sore today.  Heh.

Perhaps she’s never gotten over being mistaken for a hotel maid while serving as U.S. secretary of state, but Madeleine Albright is joining the chorus of the political left today, claiming there’s a “war on women” stoked by Republicans.

Albright, who was America’s top diplomat in President Bill Clinton’s administration, has just penned a fundraising plea for Democrats, saying, “Here in America, Republicans have launched an all out attack on women’s rights. They’ve targeted women’s health care and are trying to roll back basic rights that most of us thought were won more than a generation ago.”

“It seems every time women take one step forward, extremists try to push us back,” she added.

I promised myself, I was not going to be angry all the time anymore. But y’know….some things just PISS ME OFF! This is one of them!

The non-existent Republican ‘war on women’ is nothing more than a left wing smoke screen to cover up the Democrats very REAL WAR ON BABIES! Just what ‘basic right’ is this old bat burbling about? Why, the ‘right’ to murder your child if the mood strikes you, of course! And we’re evil? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!  We aren’t the ones slaughtering children, covered in blood money.

Birth control you say?  Close your legs, and stop acting like a SLUT, would be the first line of defense.  Have no self control? How about those pills?  You can go to Wal-Mart and get them for around $4.00 a month.  That’s about the same as a gallon of gas, so if you can put gas in your vehicle, and not bitch about Obama’s ridiculous energy policies, you can damn sure pay for your own ‘good times’.   Go to any Planned Parenthood, or even a high school, or middle school, they’ll give you FREE condoms, and even show ya how to use ‘em!  Just in case you’re too stupid to grasp the concept!

Now, I’m going to drink my coffee, and calm down.  Do a bit of praying, and ask God to forgive me for the things I am thinking about this horrid woman, and her cronies.  The devil is alive and well in the Democrat Party.

And FYI, I can’t imagine anyone hiring that woman to be a maid.  I wouldn’t even have her in my house!  She can’t be trusted, and would likely do a lousy job.  She wasn’t too great as Secretary of State, that’s for sure!

We all did things together –

even go to church to pray.

When we did our weekend trips

no one stayed at home because

Sometimes we would separate

to do things on our own,

but we knew where the others were

without our own cell phone.

Then there were the movies

with your favorite movie star,

and nothing can compare

to watching movies in your car.

Then there were the picnics

at the peak of summer season,

pack a lunch and find some trees

and never need a reason.

Get a baseball game together

with all the friends you know,

have real action playing ball –

and no game video.

Remember when the doctor

used to be the family friend,

and didn’t need insurance

or a lawyer to defend?

The way that he took care of you

or what he had to do,

because he took an oath and strived

to do the best for you.

Remember going to the store

and shopping casually,

and when you went to pay for it

you used your own REAL money?

Nothing that you had to swipe

or punch in some amount,

and remember when the cashier person

had to really count?

The milkman used to go

from door to door,

And it was just a few cents more

than going to the store.

The mailman knew each house by name

and knew where it was sent;

there were not loads of mail addressed

to “present occupant.”

There was a time when just one glance

was all that it would take,

and you would know the kind of car,

the model and the make.

They didn’t look like turtles

trying to squeeze out every mile;

they were streamlined, white walls, fins

and really had some style.

One time the music that you played

whenever you would jive,

was from a vinyl, big-holed record

called a forty-five.

The record player had a post

to keep them all in line

and then the records would drop down

Oh, the simple life we lived

still seems like so much fun,

how can you explain a game,

just kick the can and run?

And why would boys put baseball cards

between bicycle spokes

and for a nickel, red machines

had little bottled Cokes?

This life seemed so much easier

and slower in some ways.

I love the new technology

but I sure do miss those days.

So time moves on and so do we

and nothing stays the same,

but I sure love to reminisce

and walk down memory lane !

Well, we did have a dining room, we rarely used…only on holidays, and a den where we gathered as a family to watch 3 channels. The living room was ‘for special’.  And we did have a one car garage that turned into a fourth bedroom.  Other than that…this was my life. I’m very sad that my daughter and grandkids won’t ever know what a true blessing this type of life really was for us, the freedom of being a kid with no government looking over our shoulder day in and day out. Progress is good in some ways, some really aren’t all that great.  I miss that world.

Papaw and Spud       Papaw has some major issues.

  I gotta tell ya….Jr was none to thrilled to find out they let her cousin have a Popsicle AND ginger ale, while all she was given was some ice chips. 

As the hours went by, there was little word.  I could only assume things were progressing smoothly.  Finally, word from Grandma…. dilated to 10 and time to push! And that’s the last I heard for nearly an hour! *tapping toes* Of course, it was driving me nuts, but since I knew how busy everyone was, and they are 1400 miles away, there wasn’t much I could say or do.

Then….there she was…the newest member of the family!

Introducing Miss Ava Hope, entering the world at 12:01am, 03/21/12, weighing in at 7 pounds 1 ounce, and 19 3/4 inches long!

Mom and wee one are doing great,

   Hmmm…  not looking too bad for an old fart who just had a heart attack. 

Praying that Mommy, Daddy, and little bit will have a long, healthy, and happy life!  And the grandparents will have the joy of spoiling her rotten, and handing her back over to the parents.  Heh.

Yeah….I’m tacky that way.  

We leave Liberty, heading towards Cleveland, and naturally, there was a wreck or something, and the whole flippin’ road was closed. We never did figure out why, since we never saw an actual wreck, just the ambulance, several cops cars, a rescue truck, and one cop on the top of the bridge blocking traffic from both directions. We did manage to find our way around on a road that must be for buggies, cuz there was barely enough room for one vehicle, much less two.

We got to the hospital, after several text messages from Jr. “Are you here yet?” Uh… “Do you see us?” *shakes head* They were more than ready to get out of there! Poor Michael got NO sleep at all, and was seriously in need of rest! Jr and Spud, on the other hand, slept all night. Heh. Yeah…I wouldn’t count on that happening on a regular basis either. *snicker*

Into the car seat, and off to the other horrible Wal-Mart from hell. sigh…

Luckily, I made it home before them so I was ready with the video camera!

He started to get really fussy after all the over attention, but guess who got him settled down!

Yup….ol’ Grandpa came to the rescue! Heh.

After a long day, Spud is all tuckered out!

Ok, now, I’ll stop being the obsessive GG Bat.    For now.

We welcomed Cameron Jason at 1:54 pm, weighing in at 7lbs 1 oz, stretching out to 19 inches, with BIG feet!

Honestly, I thought she would have had the entire hospital up in arms with ear piercing screeches.  Nope.  Well, a time or two she did get close, but Granny kept her fairly calm, Daddy kept her face cooled off with a wet rag, and I can count to ten very well now.  PUSH!  1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9.10 Breathe.  Ok, deep breath….PUSH! 1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9.10  And, she kicked off all the covers.  Seriously, I have now seen more than I ever wanted to see in my life.  It was one thing to change her diaper when she was a tiny person, this, on the other hand, was an experience I honestly, could have done without.  *BRAIN BLEACH*

Once Spud finally came out *more brain bleach please*, and she calmed down, she couldn’t wait to get her hands on him.  It was amazing.  Yep…there were tears.  They took him to get him cleaned up, and I over heard the nurses talking about fluid in his lungs.   This was more than disconcerting.  They brought a thing out that looked like a padded meat tenderizer and whacked him on his little chest.  Thankfully, Jr couldn’t see this, otherwise, she would have freaked.  I know that kid!  Finally, evidently, whatever they were doing worked, and he started howling.  That boy has his mother’s lungs, and his daddy’s feet!

Mommy first, naturally!       Then Granny who, by the way, was functioning on about 3 hours of sleep.  Daddy was rather wound up, and seemed to be a tad afraid to hold Spud.  Well, he was shaking pretty bad through the entire ordeal, so it’s understandable.      But at last, he calmed down enough to feel secure holding such a tiny person.    He impresses me more every day. At first, I didn’t think I was going to like him, for obvious reasons, but the more time I have spent with him, and the more crap he has put up with Jr through this entire pregnancy, the more amazed I am.    He’s proven to me, he is a responsible man.  Not some kid who knocks up a girl, and takes off, like so many do these days.  Yeah, he’s got some issues, but who doesn’t?  He’s sticking with that pain in the hinder I call granddaughter, and that means a LOT to me!

We’ve already noticed Spud has one of Jr’s habits….hands to mouth.    She did that as a baby, and still does when she’s sleeping.  We had a dickens of a time getting his hands away from his mouth so Jr could feed him.

A little while later, they came in to give Spud a bath.  This did not make him happy!     He’s got that lip thing going.  Heaven help us!

After what seemed like forever, they finally moved her from the delivery room, across the hall to a semi regular room.    We decided to hang a blue bear in his honor.  Heh.  Grandpa Ick had to work today, so he didn’t get to the hospital till close to 6pm.  He had a chat with Spud, which apparently went in one ear, and out the other, because he promptly let out quite a squall!  LOL  Yep….young’uns will do what young’uns do, no matter what Grandpa says.  He did have to check out the big feet. 

Now, Short Person, who is 6 years younger than Jr, was at the hospital all day as well.  However, Jr has this issue.  Well, we all have the same issue.  Short Person can be beyond annoying.  So, Jr refused to let her come into the room while she was in labor.  Can’t say as I blame her.  SP has a tendency to ask really stupid questions, and Jr was obviously in no mood to be asked stupid questions.  SP was finally allowed in the room after things had calmed down a bit, and I’ll be darned if the kid didn’t start balling.  Well, I can understand why Granny (Brat) and I did, but SP?  Hmmm…  I guess she’s taking this baby thing more seriously, and emotionally, than we thought she would.  Fascinating.  Once we got everything moved over to the other room, and co-workers of Granny’s came to gawk, , Jr had Daddy set a chair close to her bed, and actually allowed SP to hold Spud!    She was quite excited, and did very well, so I don’t think Jr has anything to worry about, at least for now.  Heh.

Yes, there is a picture of me holding him, and no, I’m not posting it here.  UGH!  When did I get so OLD?  sigh…

Thankfully, she and Daddy will be spending another night at the hospital, so we have one more night of quiet.  Granny has already fallen into bed, and was probably asleep before her head hit the pillow.  We’ll go pick them up tomorrow, and bring them home.  I’ll try not to be the obsessive G.G. Bat, but I’m not guaranteeing anything. 

So, here’s the deal…. if Jr doesn’t going into labor on her own, then she will be checking into the hospital on Sunday evening, have one procedure done, can’t remember what it’s called right now, and if she and Spud don’t cooperate, they will be carrying on with inducement.

We really did think she would be delivering last week, because of the consistent Braxton Hicks and some dilating.  But NOOOOOO….  Spud has decided to continue making Jr as miserable as any person who is 9 months pregnant, and more than ready to evict tiny person.  While we at the doc’s yesterday, she did have one contraction, but it wasn’t strong enough, or of any concern to the doc.  Apparently, his favorite position is pushing his hind end out and shoving his feet as close to her lungs as possible.  Nothing worse than a whining pregnant teen (19).

While I’m at it, I really have to say Spud’s daddy has been amazing.  I’m not real sure how he has found the patience, but he has been more patient with her, and her moods, than any daddy I’ve ever seen.  He has stuck by her from the very beginning.  It’s a shame more males don’t show such strength.  Anybody can be a father, but it takes a special man to be a Daddy!  Whatever happens in the future, I have NO doubt he will always be there for his son!  They do plan on getting married.  Shame they didn’t follow the ‘correct’ order of things, but oh well.    I’ve learned a lot about him in the last week, and to say I’m impressed by his strength of character to overcome a great deal of adversity, it’s nothing less than amazing.

So, that’s where we stand at the moment.  Yes, I will be going home, eventually.  Next week, between Brat and myself, Jr will be able to rest up a bit, but then….reality will have to set in, and she and Daddy will be in charge.    She hasn’t been sleeping too well the last few week.  She thinks she’s going to get sleep after the baby is born.

Widely read conservative Internet publisher Andrew Breitbart has died, his attorney confirms.

The websites he founded ran a statement Thursday morning announcing that Breitbart, 43, died “unexpectedly from natural causes” in Los Angeles shortly after midnight.

“We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior,” the article on the site said. “Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love.”

Breitbart was a prolific commentator who founded several websites devoted to covering politics, entertainment and everything in between. Earlier in his career, he worked for the Drudge Report before breaking off to start his own outlets — including Big Government, Big Hollywood and Breitbart.tv.

The statement on his sites quoted the concluding passage from his book, Righteous Indignation.

“I love my job. I love fighting for what I believe in. I love having fun while doing it. I love reporting stories that the Complex refuses to report. I love fighting back, I love finding allies, and-famously-I enjoy making enemies. Three years ago, I was mostly a behind-the-scenes guy who linked to stuff on a very popular website. I always wondered what it would be like to enter the public realm to fight for what I believe in. I’ve lost friends, perhaps dozens. But I’ve gained hundreds, thousands — who knows? — of allies. At the end of the day, I can look at myself in the mirror, and I sleep very well at night.”

Natural causes? At 43? I keep hoping this is some kind of really sick joke.

I don’t actually admire many people these days…he is one of the few. It takes a lot of courage to do what he does….did. Facing an onslaught of attacks from the left for doing nothing more than telling the truth, standing up for us, because we really don’t have a voice anymore. He became our voice.

Rest in peace good sir.  May God Bless you, your family, your friends, and those of us who will sincerely mourn the loss of a true American patriot.

Listening to the little bugger’s heartbeat made question all those people who want to be able to kill a child this far along. He’s a living being, a creation of God, and not disposable like just so much garbage. And on that note…

If the kid hasn’t made an appearance by the 11th, they will induce. I was kind of hoping I would be headed back home with loads of pictures and video of a tiny person by then. Ah well, I’m fairly sure the Mr will be able to handle things a bit longer….just in case.

One thing that rather bugs me….Rick Santorum is gonna be in Jackson on Friday.    However, family trumps politics, even an election year as important as this.
