The CFR’s “task force” has announced that the failure of tax-funded K-12 education is the #1 threat to America’s position in the world.
The United States’ failure to educate its students leaves them unprepared to compete and threatens the country’s ability to thrive in a global economy and maintain its leadership role, finds a new Council on Foreign Relations (CFR)–sponsored Independent Task Force report on U.S. Education Reform and National Security.
“Educational failure puts the United States’ future economic prosperity, global position, and physical safety at risk,” warns the Task Force, chaired by Joel I. Klein, former head of New York City public schools, and Condoleezza Rice, former U.S. secretary of state. The country “will not be able to keep pace—much less lead—globally unless it moves to fix the problems it has allowed to fester for too long,” argues the Task Force.
The report notes that while the United States invests more in K-12 public education than many other developed countries, its students are ill prepared to compete with their global peers. According to the results of the 2009 Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), an international assessment that measures the performance of 15-year-olds in reading, mathematics, and science every three years, U.S. students rank fourteenth in reading, twenty-fifth in math, and seventeenth in science compared to students in other industrialized countries.
This sounds bad. It is bad. The problem is, all this has been known for years. Nothing changes except cost per student, which rises. Reform after reform is proposed. A few are begun. The performance of the students falls. The cost per student rises.
I’m going to HAVE to slip in a “WE TOLD YOU SO!” here. What those on the right have known for years, has been confirmed over and over. This report is just one more confirmation! The cost of education continues to skyrocket, yet the quality continues to plummet. There is no one answer, but there is a BIG one at the forefront!
Here are some data on student performance.
- More than 25 percent of students fail to graduate from high school in four years; for African-American and Hispanic students, this number is approaching 40 percent.
- In civics, only a quarter of U.S. students are proficient or better on the National Assessment of Educational Progress.
- Although the United States is a nation of immigrants, roughly eight in ten Americans speak only English and a decreasing number of schools are teaching foreign languages.
- A recent report by ACT, the not-for-profit testing organization, found that only 22 percent of U.S. high school students met “college ready” standards in all of their core subjects; these figures are even lower for African-American and Hispanic students.
- The College Board reported that even among college-bound seniors, only 43 percent met college-ready standards, meaning that more college students need to take remedial courses.
These are national over all averages. Of course, there are some schools, school districts, that exceed expectations, but those are becoming fewer and farther between. Do you ever ask yourself why? I did, many years ago, and after some majoy reading, investigating on my own, I figured it out. Those school districts that are at the bottom, and usually wholly ‘owned’ by the unions. Yet, in those same districts, taxes keep rising due to the cost of ‘education’. It’s not the education of the student that is so expensive these days….it’s the cost of putting a union hack teacher in the classroom. You aren’t paying for books, desks, needed supplies for your kids. No, you are paying for fat benefit packages, the type of package that will continue to pay the so called ‘teacher’ until the day he, or she, dies.

Perhaps she’s never gotten over being mistaken for a hotel maid while serving as U.S. secretary of state, but Madeleine Albright is joining the chorus of the political left today, claiming there’s a “war on women” stoked by Republicans.
Albright, who was America’s top diplomat in President Bill Clinton’s administration, has just penned a fundraising plea for Democrats, saying, “Here in America, Republicans have launched an all out attack on women’s rights. They’ve targeted women’s health care and are trying to roll back basic rights that most of us thought were won more than a generation ago.”
“It seems every time women take one step forward, extremists try to push us back,” she added.
I promised myself, I was not going to be angry all the time anymore. But y’know….some things just PISS ME OFF! This is one of them!
The non-existent Republican ‘war on women’ is nothing more than a left wing smoke screen to cover up the Democrats very REAL WAR ON BABIES! Just what ‘basic right’ is this old bat burbling about? Why, the ‘right’ to murder your child if the mood strikes you, of course! And we’re evil? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight! We aren’t the ones slaughtering children, covered in blood money.
Birth control you say? Close your legs, and stop acting like a SLUT, would be the first line of defense. Have no self control? How about those pills? You can go to Wal-Mart and get them for around $4.00 a month. That’s about the same as a gallon of gas, so if you can put gas in your vehicle, and not bitch about Obama’s ridiculous energy policies, you can damn sure pay for your own ‘good times’. Go to any Planned Parenthood, or even a high school, or middle school, they’ll give you FREE condoms, and even show ya how to use ‘em! Just in case you’re too stupid to grasp the concept!
Now, I’m going to drink my coffee, and calm down. Do a bit of praying, and ask God to forgive me for the things I am thinking about this horrid woman, and her cronies. The devil is alive and well in the Democrat Party.
And FYI, I can’t imagine anyone hiring that woman to be a maid. I wouldn’t even have her in my house! She can’t be trusted, and would likely do a lousy job. She wasn’t too great as Secretary of State, that’s for sure!
Undermining Faith
When Lainie posted this story on Facebook yesterday, I was already tired, and in a very good mood (always am after church), so didn’t really feel like tackling this issue. But now, it’s Monday morning, and no one is in a good mood on Monday mornings. Well, normal people who have to face a long week of work usually aren’t. Heh.
State University will no longer cancel classes for Christian, Jewish holidays
State University of New York at Stony Brook has decided to no longer cancel classes for major Christian and Jewish holidays in an effort to ensure that some religions are not given special treatment and to “afford equal support and equal respect to students and faculty from all faiths.”
Jewish students would be impacted on Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Passover and Holy Week. Christian students would be impacted on Good Friday. The Christmas holiday is protected under a union contract and occurs when classes are traditionally not in session.
You’ll excuse me if I find this decision to NOT be equal, to anyone. Evidently, Jews and Christians paying for their assumed education at this institution will be unable to celebrate important events in their faith. Oh, but since Christmas is in the ‘union contract’, people of all faiths will get a break. Does anyone else find this a rather odd way to show “equal respect to students and faculty of all faiths”? Apparently, the students and teachers will either be missing those classes, or violating their faith?
For the Jews, it’s pretty much a mandate from God that they observe these Holy Days. Whoever came up with this absurd idea might want to read the Old Testament. Better yet, they should read the Torah, where God gives His statutes that the people are REQUIRED to observe.
The public education system, at every level, has already taken away the Christian Holy Week, from Palm Sunday to Easter, and replaced it with ‘spring break’, where kids go off to some 24/7 party, get drunk, behave like heathens and hoochies, some ending up in jail. Yeah…that as a real good idea, wasn’t it. 
Now, they want to take away Good Friday as well?
The university had considered allowing faculty to schedule exams on Saturday and Sunday — a time when many students attend worship services. However, that decision was tabled after reaching a compromise with students.
Isn’t it the student and the parents who are paying these yahoos salaries, whether through tuition or tax money? Who is in charge? The paid or the payee?
“As a secular university, as a state-funded university our priority must be to maximize instructional opportunities for our students,” said Charles Robbins, vice provost for undergraduate education. “First and foremost, it’s important to note that while I respect everyone’s concerns, the reality is it’s a relatively small number of people who are upset.”
It’s state funded? I guess that means that the students aren’t paying ANY tuition at all, right? That ‘relatively small number’ who are upset should probably change schools…and take their parents money with them. Also, the state should cut off all funding for an institution that obviously has NO respect for ANYONE’S faith.
I would suggest that the students of all faiths tell the school’s administration to stuff it where the sun don’t shine! In light of recent shootings in Mississippi, I think education systems need MORE faith, not less. If anyone needs the lessons of morality, it would be our kids. Those “Thou Shalts” were not suggestions…they were ORDERS!

Pelosi: Healthcare law guarantees ‘life, liberty, pursuit of happiness’
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Wednesday evening that the 2010 healthcare law, which prompted complaints from conservatives that Democrats far exceeded their constitutional authority, actually helps people meet the goal outlined in the Declaration of Independence, which promotes mankind’s rights to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
Speaking on the House floor, Pelosi called on her colleagues to remember “what our founders put forth in our founding documents, which is life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And that is exactly what the Affordable Care Act helps to guarantee.”
Pelosi explained that the law gives people the flexibility they need to pursue these goals, since it makes it easier for them to switch jobs in order to pursue their career or family goals.
Seriously, the woman needs to lay off the botox. It’s turned what little brain she had into plastic mush! You seriously need to actually read those documents….on a regular basis…because evidently, you have NO clue what’s in them. Rights come from God and responsibilities belong to the people for their own choices and lives, NOT the government.
What “gives people the flexibility” to pursue their goals is a government that doesn’t intrude on every aspect of their lives! A government that actually does what it was created to do, and back the hell off from everything else! That includes our health care! It’s none of their flippin’ business. People can’t pursue their personal goals anymore because they can’t afford them. Why? Because of the Nancy Pelosis of the world have made sure they can’t by sucking the life out of their dreams.
And, by the way, ya dumb broad…there are NO guarantees….for anything! *shakes head* And people keep voting for that lunatic? Says a LOT of San Fransisco, doesn’t it! Can we kick them out?

In typical Democrat fashion, any ability to fight voter fraud is being blocked. This is nothing new for them, it’s been going on quite a while. The latest target in the corrupt Democrat machine of Barack Obama and Eric Holder is Texas. There are people here in Texas who are just as fed up as those in the rest of the country with the constant blatant racism of this Attorney General and his minions.
Demonstrating the need for Texas’s law, a Texas-based group called True the Vote has found many instances of the very voter registration irregularities that Voter ID is designed to prevent from turning into fraudulent votes, and thus to shield our elections from some of the easiest to perpetrate forms of corruption. They found particular problems in the Houston-area district of Democratic Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee who, as usual, cried “racist!”
I know it’s not funny, but I can only chuckle when I hear Shelia Jackson Lee spouting her ‘racist’ line. Doesn’t matter what it is about, that’s her battle cry, and too many follow along blindly. What is racist is the obvious fraud that has been perpetrated on the American people, of all colors, by the Democrat Party. This isn’t new. Since the days of Reconstruction, the Democrats have been targeting white AND black Americans. Their history is steeped in racism and violence.
Don’t believe me? Go to the National Black Republican Association website, read for yourself. Educate yourself on the REAL history, and who it has been, closing in on 2 centuries, that has fought any progress for black Americans. Talk to people like Alfonzo Rachel, Stacy Swimp, and Lloyd Marcus. Learn from Thomas Sowell, Frantz Kebreau, Kevin Jackson, Starr Parker and many more. Listen to Representatives Allen West and Tim Scott.
Ya just gotta love those Dems who equate voter ID with ‘bringing back Jim Crow‘. (My goodness, that’s one extremely ignorant woman! Y’all should be embarrassed!) Well, they should know better, since it was the DEMOCRATS who enacted those laws. But even they are willfully ignorant of their own history. Or perhaps they choose to keep their followers blindly in the dark? Apparently, it’s another one of those important tidbits that is being left out of our public school system. Why would the Democrats, and their ‘strong armed unions’ want our kids to learn the REAL history of the country?

The biggest reason that our government has turned into a nanny state is because so many American adults act like spoiled, petulant children. This is not about being a conservative as opposed to a liberal; it’s about being an adult as opposed to a child. You want to be a man? Act like a man, not a boy. You want to be treated like a woman? Act like a woman instead of a little girl playing with her dolls. Ultimately, if you want the respect that comes with being an adult, you have to do more than reach adulthood. Instead, you have to actually embrace the responsibilities that come with being a man. Until you can do that, you’ll forever be an unworthy child, no matter what age you reach.

Three California obesity researchers struck a nerve in Tennessee’s sweet tooth last month when they proposed regulating sugar in the same way government regulates tobacco and alcohol.
In the journal Nature , they pegged a litany of chronic illnesses to excess sugar consumption — diabetes, hypertension, fatty liver disease and others. Their article proposed taxing foods with added sugar, restricting purchases to ages 17 and over, and limiting convenience stores in poor neighborhoods.
There is no doubt in my mind….California really IS a granola state….fruits, nuts, and flakes! First off, ya don’t tax people even more, second, ya don’t tell people what they can and cannot eat or drink, and third….it’s called PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY! The whole thing sounds like discrimination against the poor folks to me!
Days before the Nature article published, U.S. Rep. Scott DesJarlais made a proposal on the other side of the political spectrum: a bill that would bar federal dollars from being used to publicly criticize foods already approved by the Food and Drug Administration. He’d learned federal stimulus funds financed healthy living campaigns that, in part, discouraged drinking sugary soda.
It is not the job of the government to spend OUR money to tell us what we should or shouldn’t drink. Seriously, there are many other ways our funds could be used…usefully….like supporting our men and women in the military! Novel concept.
SPLC – Supidity At It’s Finest
Patriots Are Radical, Racist, Hate-Filled Terror Suspects
On the heels of the National Defense Authorization Act’s indefinite detention provision and Attorney General Eric Holder’s unfortunate “the U.S. government has the right to kill you” speech and while the word “terrorist” is used ever more loosely, left-wing activists groups are ramping up their campaigns against those who believe in smaller government.
The Southern Poverty Law Center (also known more accurately as the Southern Preposterous Lie Center here at Personal Liberty Digest™), long known and called out for its shameless exploitation of race for profit, has released its latest report profiling hate in America: “The ‘Patriot’ Movement Explodes.” The word “patriot” as defined over the course of about 3,000 words by the author, however, varies a bit from Webster’s definition and the likely definition of most people who feel patriotic: “One who loves and loyally or zealously supports one’s own country.”
If there is any hate filled, racist organization, that would be SPLC! But yet, according to their definition, I’m a terrorist, and likely, so are you!
Following the alarmist introduction, the author tells his readers that the so-called “Patriot movement” is again on the uptick, growing from 149 groups in 2008 to 512 in 2009, and again in 2010 to 824, and then, last year, jumping to 1,274. The title of the report and the groups contained under the author’s definition of “patriot” likely alarm the everyday conservative who may spend time on weekends organizing for like-minded political candidates, lecturing friends about the value of our Founders’ vision laid forth in the Constitution of the United States, decrying the continual expansion of an ever-stifling Federal bureaucracy or waving signs on the local courthouse steps with Tea Party peers.
Granted, there are some groups, on the very FAR right, and the very FAR left, that are likely not all that concerned with the Constitution, or the rule of law. The very FAR right most likely want to be separate from the rest of the country that may see us regular ol’ patriots as too far left. Go figure. Then, on the very FAR left, we see the anarchists who are attacking the police and destroying property, masquerading as “Occupiers”.
Following are some of the subgroups into which the alarmists at SPLC divide patriots:
- Anti-Gay: Patriotic Americans as defined by SPLC can be members of one of 27 militantly anti-gay groups that are involved in “efforts to ban or repeal marriage equality and what seemed to be an intensification of anti-gay propaganda in certain quarters.”
- Anti-Muslim: The author contends that people who consider themselves to be American patriots may be involved in one of the 30 groups that exist throughout the Nation that vilify and commit hate crimes against Muslims.
- Black Separatists: Black Americans who consider themselves patriots, have an unfavorable view of President Barack Obama or who believe the Constitution is an important document are likely members of the small portion of African-Americans belonging to the greater sovereign citizens movement, according to SPLC.
- Christian Identity: Patriots who are also Christians may believe that Jewish people are direct descendants of Satan and people of color are “soulless mud people” in SPLC’s view.
- Ku Klux Klan: The SPLC believes that the growing Patriot movement also coincides with a growing number of Ku Klux Klan members in the country.
- Neo-Confederates: Centered on the Alabama League of the South, a group founded in 1994 with the alleged goal to organize a second Southern secession, there are 32 neo-Confederate organizations that SPLC says American patriots may belong to.
- Racist Skinhead Groups: SPLC believes that American patriots could belong to any number of racist skinhead organizations — groups that have been defined over the past several decades as being fond of punk rock, anarchy and racism.
- White Nationalist Groups: In SPLC’s view, patriotic Americans may be white nationalists, similar to those who protested school integration and racial equality during the Civil Rights era.
Well, I’m not sure about any rabid ‘anti-gay’ groups, but I do know that there are some of us out here who do take God as his word. You know, that whole man and woman becoming one, and the abomination issue. Most of us don’t hate homosexuals. Hate is for those who want to expend the energy, and wear themselves out by using destructive actions. I don’t know anyone who does that. I do know many who love the ‘sinner’, and would like to help in any way possible to get back on the path that God intended. But hate? Nope. No hate.
Anti-muslim? Well, yes and no. When there are people who want to destroy our Republic form of government, and replace it with a theocracy based on one of the most hate fill ‘religious cults’ I’ve ever seen, then…yeah….you could call me anti-muslim. Not to mention that little fact….we either submit, or we die. I have a BIG problem with that ideology. I would also mention, this is the bunch who murders their children for the sake of ‘honor’, hangs homosexuals, stones women for being raped, and an amazing array of other tidbits that, evidently, the SPLC hasn’t bothered to notice. As for ‘hate crimes’ against muslims? Seriously? Compare the ‘hate crimes’ (2009) against Jews (71.9%) vs ‘hate crime’ against muslims (8.4%), and tell me again just who is being targeted because of their religion? From the statistics for subsequent years, the numbers have risen significantly….but not against muslims.
I think I know a few ‘black-separatists’. They would be the Americans with dark skin, and no hyphens, who are none to fond of Barack Hussein Obama and his socialist policies. Now, I’m fairly sure those ‘black-separatists’ that I know don’t have anything to do with the ‘sovereign citizens movement’. In case you aren’t familiar with this ‘movement’, Wikipedia describes it:
The sovereign citizen movement is a loose network of American litigants, commentators, and financial scheme promoters, classified as an “extremist anti-government group” by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Self-described sovereign citizens take the position that they are answerable only to common law and are not subject to any statutes or proceedings at the federal, state or municipal levels, or that they do not recognize U.S. currency and that they are “free of any legal constraints”.
They especially reject most forms of taxation as illegitimate. Participants in the movement argue this concept in opposition to “federal citizens”, who, they say, have unknowingly forfeited their rights by accepting some aspect of federal law.
I’ve seen a couple of folks who described themselves as such on the news out of Memphis a time or two. Honestly, I think those who were interviewed were in serious need of some psychiatric help, but that’s just my opinion, and only covers those I personally saw on the news. If the entire movement is different that what I saw, then, well…. not sure how to describe them. The father and son team, Jerry and Joseph Kane, who murdered police officers after a routine traffic stop, claimed to be ‘sovereign citizens’, unanswerable to any law. Well, I don’t know anyone like that, especially anyone I ever met through the Tea Party, Oath Keepers, or any other political organization or rally. Most of the folks I know believe in the laws, unlike many of those in Congress and filling White House positions. Folks I know believe the law of the land applies to EVERYONE, including elected officials, and those appointed to official posts.
Christian Identity…..sy whut? Well, no TRUE Christian believes what is posted above from that report. No….. TRUE Christians know that Israel is God’s Chosen People. “Patriots who are also Christians may believe that Jewish people are direct descendants of Satan and people of color are “soulless mud people” in SPLC’s view.” That’s about the most ridiculous thing I’ve read in quite a while! Obviously, the SPLC doesn’t know any TRUE Christians.
Now, as for the KKK, the Neo-Confederates, skinheads, and white nationalist groups….don’t think I’ve ever come across any who are members of those groups. I do know there are some in the South that are fed up with the east coast liberals who have been eroding the liberties of ALL Americans, and it’s possible that some wouldn’t mind cutting us off from the BIG gubmint types that tend to come from the north east, and the left coast. Seriously, I wouldn’t mind it myself. But as a whole, we’d actually like to return to the days when we were the UNITED States of America, instead of what we are now….the DIVIDED states. 
I remember the KKK from my youth, growing up in the South. Evil people….Democrats. Now, if you want to talk about home grown terrorists, take a real hard look at the history of the Klu Klux Klan, and exactly WHO they were/are…the terrorist wing of the Democrat Party!

It aimed to destroy the Republican party’s infrastructure, undermine the Reconstruction state, reestablish control of the black labor force, and restore racial subordination in every aspect of Southern life.”

For many Christians the 40-day period of fasting and reflection before Easter known as Lent is a chance to get in mental and spiritual shape. People give up chocolate, quit drinking or smoking, avoid meat, start reading the Bible regularly, or even give up social media—small “fasts” intended to discipline and redirect one’s mind to the divine. For Catholics, liturgical Protestants, and increasingly, nondenominational Christians around the country, Lent fasts can often feel like another round of New Year’s resolutions—a second attempt at giving up small indulgences for personal betterment.
But this year thousands of Christians worldwide are making a bigger statement: giving up carbon to help save the planet.
I’m not sure what kind of ‘Christians’ think this is a good idea, but obviously, they aren’t very bright. CO2 is necessary. We, as humans expel it, plants thrive on it, it’s a symbiotic relationship. Hmmmm…… Perhaps, it’s not such a bad idea after all. I mean, that way, we have the clueless dropping dead from stupidity, which would leave more resources for those of us who actually have a brain, and didn’t flunk science. 
Just a thought.

I didn’t hear it, but evidently, Rush Limbaugh said something that got a lot of folks’ knickers in a twist.
“What does it say about the college co-ed Sandra Fluke, who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex? What does that make her?” Limbaugh said on his radio show on Wednesday. “It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She’s having so much sex she can’t afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex. What does that make us? We’re the pimps.”
Hmmm… That’s it? That’s what he said? And even Boehner is having issues? Why? Show me where what Rush said wasn’t the truth. If this broad wants us to pay for her to be able to have ‘guilt free sex’, what would you call it? Since when it is my responsibility to pay for someone like Fluke to get her hootchie on? It’s not! And what Rush said described it quite well. We pay for her to spread her legs and that would make her a slut…a prostitute, enabling her to be irresponsible for her own actions. Even the White House is making excuses for her behavior. And it makes us pimps. I don’t particularly like that idea.

Sorry dude….she’s no longer a private citizen. She went before Congress to pretty much demand that I pay for her hootchie habits. No. It’s not my responsibility. It’s not yours either. If she wants to spread her legs for any ol’ Tom, DICK or Harry, that is her business. And SHE should be the one to pay for her ‘fun’. If she can’t afford it, cross your legs, ya dumb broad! Abstinence is the only sure fire way! People getting their panties in a wad because Rush Limbaugh spoke the truth is pretty flippin’ ridiculous! That includes the Speaker of the House, Carney, the POTUS, or anyone else who has a problem.
