I, Too, Am At A Loss
Sometimes, you come across a post that nothing less than a copy and past will do. This is one of those posts. I can’t add anything to it, other than I fear our children will never know the truth and freedoms that we once enjoyed.
From Musings from the Elephant Man:
Ever since I began this blog, I have had plenty to say on a whole host of issues. I addressed the state of our nation, the current economic crisis, the biased media, the humorous side of politics, Ronald Reagan, conservatism vs. liberalism, and so on and so forth.
But, as many of you know, the most frequent subject that this blog has dealt with is that of Barack Obama. I have done my very best to relay why I do not believe that he is qualified nor fit to be our next president. I have discussed his past relationships, his socialistic philosophies, his racist remarks and stereotypical views, his weak and naive military strategies, his utter disregard for human life, his numerous lies, and the list goes on.

Within the last 48 hours, new audio tapes have surfaced further demonstrating that Obama is a truly dangerous man. If Obama had it his way, he would completely change the entire makeup of this country. Everything that has made the United States what it is today; the Constitution, personal responsibility, capitalism, the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; somehow repulses Obama. He, and people like him, don’t see America as a shining city on a hill; rather, they see her as a country that is in need of radical change; a country that no man can love; a country that is the scorn of the world. This is why Obama refused (or did until it was politically expedient) to salute our flag or wear it on his chest. This is why Obama disparages our troops and downplays their heroic actions.

Father Jonathan
Father Jonathan: Obama’s No Robin Hood
Robin Hood is a legitimate hero, not because he robbed from the rich and gave to the poor, but rather because he returned to the poor what lawfully belonged to them.
This distinction is what separates the just goals of Robin and his band of “Merry Men” from the dehumanizing economic theory of “redistribution of wealth”—a hallmark of socialism—as explained and supported by Senator Barack Obama in his 2001 interview with Chicago Public Radio, just recently rediscovered by the media.
While the famed green archer risked his life in defense of the natural right to retain private property (from thieves like the cruel sheriff of Nottingham and King John who stripped peasants of their land and livelihood), in this interview Senator Obama questions to what extent this right even exists.
But don’t take my word for it. Listen to it. Did you hear what I heard? (listen here)
There can be no longer any doubt. Senator Obama’s enduring political philosophy is socialist at the core. And his leanings, in this regard, are radical; he would like to see all three branches of the federal government play a role in restructuring our society according to “redistributive” economic principles.
As I listen to the interview, I must say it is hard to believe our leading United States presidential candidate said, just seven years ago, that it is a tragedy the civil rights movement failed to get the Supreme Court to venture into the issues of redistribution of wealth. It is hard to believe the leading United States presidential candidate said, just seven years ago, “any three of us sitting here could come up with a rationale for bringing economic change through the courts.” It is hard to believe the leading United States presidential candidate suggested, just seven years ago, we should be seeking legislative and administrative avenues to effect “redistributive change,” since it is impractical now to get the courts to do it on their own. It’s even harder to believe the leading United States presidential candidate, just seven years ago, was talking about the importance of community organizers “putting together the actual coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change.”
But then again, maybe I shouldn’t be surprised. Seven years later, and just one month before Election Day, Senator Obama said to Joe the Plumber, word for word, “I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everyone.”
I don’t doubt Senator Obama’s good will. In fact, he is right about many things.
The great divide between the rich and the poor in our times is scandalous and reprehensible. And the blessings of this earth were destined by God for the common good of all his creatures.
But we know from history, from very sad periods of history, there is no real justice—no progress and no lasting peace—when its pursuit involves beating down some to lift up others. And we also know, by the dictates of reason and the practice of all ages, that when the government decides it can suspend the natural right to private property, through repossession or redistribution, or whatever they choose to call it, that government is on the wrong side of truth.
Just ask Robin Hood.
God bless,
Father Jonathan

Saturday Afternoon - No Laundry - Time
The Mr and I spent a nice afternoon with a group of terrific folks, my church.
We had the annual Harvest Festival shindig, with way too much excellent food (the brats were actually a big hit), games for the young’uns, a hay ride, great company and the Mr pickin’ with the pastor. Having never played together before, they didn’t do too bad. I would post some pictures of the folks, but forgot to take my camera.
Obviously, I didn’t do any blog snooping this afternoon, but did come across a few posts of note. I know there are a LOT more, but I’m just plain tuckered!

The Decline of Education
This article, while about Memphis city schools, could have been written about any large city across the country.
Memphis City Schools graduation rates decline
The latest graduation rates are a sinking sign for a school district with the motto “Every Child. Every Day. College Bound.”
Only 66.9 percent of the 2004 freshman class at Memphis City Schools received diplomas this spring, down nearly 3 percentage points from last year.
No matter the dollar amount thrown at a school system, the graduation rates drop. Many who do graduate are barely literate. Why is that?
Under guidelines of No Child Left Behind, the federal law that mandates improvements in academic achievement and graduation rate, MCS was supposed to hit a rate of 71.6 this year. By 2010, it should be 77.6.
NCLB was a pretty good idea. Unfortunately, it didn’t take into account special needs, and I’m hoping they’ll rectify this problem. They can throw silly mandates in all directions, but, sadly, you can’t mandate kids to learn. You can’t mandate that they care about their education, or their future. Teachers and parents have to instill the desire to learn.
Despite a decade of education reform, including an escalating number of optional schools, fully one-third of the freshman class in any U.S. high school does not graduate.
The number is the highest of any industrialized nation in the world and has been rising since the late 1960s when the United States turned out its best graduation results.
What happened in the 1960s that would have such a profound affect on our education system? Well, let’s take a look at that, and see what we can come up with, shall we?
A law suit by a lunatic, Madeline Murry O’Hare, forced public schools to end all prayer. Not that prayer actually stopped (ask any kid who has taken a test), but school could no longer instill values in the students. Then, we had the hippies. Now, being one of those late 60s, early 70s ‘hippies’, I can tell you, education was not on the top of my list. I did finish high school after a year of ‘fun’, but many didn’t….. the parents and grandparents of today’s students.
You had the radicals of that age, now teaching school. You know what they say…if you can’t do, teach. Not to say that all teachers in the public school systems are of that mind set, but those who teach in their colleges seem to be. Just look at college campuses these days. And why would a high school graduate need to take remedial reading????
Over the last 40 years, we gradually stopped demanding the best from our kids. Heaven forbid we should actually expect them to do well! Might hurt their little psyches. They are no longer allowed ‘recess’. You remember that break in the school day, where you use to run off all that pent up energy? Might get a boo boo, too.
We had LBJ and his welfare programs. Have you noticed that the ‘war on poverty’ never ends? We have a generation of parents, teaching their kids how to suck the system dry, instead of demanding they achieve something with their lives. Make a contribution to society, and all that good stuff. We’ve got cities, and even a state or two, totally “owned” by the teachers unions. (You know who you are!) They demand more and more money from the taxpayer, and do less and less for it, all the while, whining “It’s for the children!” Hog wash! The union leadership couldn’t give two squats for the kid’s education. They want more money so they’ll be set for life at the taxpayer’s expense, all the while taking trips to ‘conventions’ and never attending one seminar.
It has become an ugly reality. We no longer care enough that our children do well. We expect the government will take care of all their needs, so why bother?
The long road to recovery begins with one step. Do away with teacher’s unions! Once the power has been removed from unions, return it to the actual ones who do the teaching in the classroom. Restore discipline. Return power to the parents of the students. We can’t solve this problem overnight. It didn’t happen overnight. The process will be slow. It’s hard to remove such power once it’s been granted, but it can be done. One step at a time.
Oh, and it wouldn’t hurt to get rid of the corrupt politicians who have been aiding and abbetting the decline either!

A Dem With Integrity?
Yeah….I was pretty surprised too, but evidently, there really are some left, as evidenced by this ‘letter to the editor’ from Orson Scott Card. Pretty long, but worth your time.
Letter to America’s editors: To tell the truth, you lied and should be fired
An open letter to the local daily paper — almost every local daily paper in America:
I remember reading All the President’s Men and thinking: That’s journalism. You do what it takes to get the truth and you lay it before the public, because the public has a right to know.
This housing crisis didn’t come out of nowhere. It was not a vague emanation of the evil Bush administration.
It was a direct result of the political decision, back in the late 1990s, to loosen the rules of lending so that home loans would be more accessible to poor people. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were authorized to approve risky loans.
What is a risky loan? It’s a loan that the recipient is likely not to be able to repay.
The goal of this rule change was to help the poor — which especially would help members of minority groups. But how does it help these people to give them a loan that they can’t repay? They get into a house, yes, but when they can’t make the payments, they lose the house — along with their credit rating.
They end up worse off than before.

Ann on ‘Radicals’
Radical Loon When Obama Was Only 47
The media are acting as if they completely and fully vetted Obama during the Democratic primaries and that’s why they are entitled to send teams of researchers into Alaska to analyze Sarah Palin’s every expense report.
In fact, the mainstream media did no vetting. They seem to have all agreed, “OK, none of us will get into this business with Jeremiah Wright, ‘Tony’ Rezko, Saul Alinsky, Bill Ayers and everyone’s impression of an angry Michelle Obama on ‘The Jerry Springer Show.’”
During one of the Democratic primary debates, Hillary Clinton was hissed for mentioning Syrian national Rezko, and during another, ABC moderator George Stephanopoulos nearly lost his career for asking Obama one question about William Ayers.

No Apology!
Palin Apologizes for ‘Real America’ Comments
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin apologized yesterday for implying that some parts of the country are more American than others, even as similar comments by two Republican congressmen were causing a backlash that threatened their chances for reelection.
In an interview on CNN, Palin said comments she made last week in North Carolina praising small towns as “the real America” and the “pro-America areas of this great nation” were not intended to suggest that other parts of the country are less patriotic or less American.
“If that’s the way it has come across, I apologize,” she told CNN’s Drew Griffin.
Why? Why apologize for something that has become more and more obvious? If it’s true, there should be NO apology. And, IMHO, it IS true!
There are people in certain areas of this country who would be absolutely THRILLED to see the complete and utter destruction of this nation. People who will be all too happy when the U.S. is no more than a third world country, instead of a world leader in freedom. Do those areas really need to be named? One example…..San Fransisco! Even their elected representative, Queen Nanny, shows an obvious hatred for this country and it’s people. Either that, or she is one of the most ignorant women to ever hold office, which speaks volumes for those who continue to vote her back into office.
So, yeah, there are some places that are more pro American than others, right here on our own soil! There is a “REAL” America, and that’s the one that consists of the hard working people who make this country worth living in! NOT the fat cats in D.C., or the arrogant snots in Hollyweird who have done nothing in their lives other than pretend to be somebody else.

Voter Fraud The Norm In Memphis
I gotta tell ya, when I read this column in the Memphis Commercial Appeal, I was EXTREMELY surprised. Not that it was written, but that the paper actually allowed it to be seen on it’s website. The CA is notorious for it’s LEFT lean. Sometimes, I’m surprised if any of it’s reporters can stand up straight, the lean is so pronounced.
A Right Perspective: Seemingly anything goes at the local polls
Remember the movie “The Sixth Sense,” where the boy saw dead people? Big deal!
I don’t know about the rest of the country, but we’ve seen dead people voting around these parts on election day before.
According to recent news reports, the ACORN organization has registered the same man 73 times and Mickey Mouse at least once. In Memphis, that’s routine, isn’t it?

It Is NOT His Color
Rummaging through this morning’s papers, I came across a letter to the editor from yesterday’s The Chattanoogan. I read through the letter and my temperature went up a couple of notches. The letter is, I’m assuming from a McCain supporter, but it sounds like an apologist.
I will NOT apologize for not voting for Barack Hussein Obama. Not gonna happen. And it has NOTHING to do with the color of his skin, or even his middle name. It has everything to do with his policies!
Are there some who won’t vote him because of his skin color? Growing up in the south, I’m fairly sure there are still some people who are hanging on to the views of the Democrats of old. Hmm….. Come to think of it, those are still the views of the Dhimmis. A black man, or woman, can’t acheive anything on their own, so ‘we must help him/her’, but don’t let him/her get TOO far, without being obliged (enslaved). The descendents of slaves (one of the ugliest periods of our history) are still being enslaved…..by the Democrat Party.
Does my not supporting a black man for president make me a racist? A whole lot of folks, fed by the MSM, seem to think so. Know what this tells me? That THEY are the racists….not me. Why, for the love of all that’s holy, should I vote FOR a person BECAUSE of his color? Isn’t that just as bad as voting against him for the same reason? He’s pro baby murder, pro surrender, pro taxes, pro big government, anti small business (hell, anti business totally), pro socialism/communism, anti Constitution, among many other things. So tell me, WHY should I support such a person? Why would ANY freedom lover support such a person? Just because he’s got a different skin tone that hasn’t been in the Oval Office? Pfft! I wouldn’t support him if he was white!
So, when I read a letter such as this, I go on the defensive, and my anger grows. The only people who are concerned with his color are the ones supporting him.
