The Big “A”
I have to Apologize to some commuters on I94 westbound in Waukesha County Wisconsin yesterday afternoon around 1515.
I’m driving down the Interstate minding my own business and this guy next to me starts honking and having a fit. I had noticed him behind me on the entrance ramp and I’m think WTF did I do to piss this guy off?? Our side by side driving had slowed down the middle and right lane considerably. He start doing the international signal for roll down your window.
Reluctantly I rolled down my window as requested.
The guy screams on the top of his lungs…..
WHERE DIDJA GET THAT BUMPER STICKER???? I WANT ONE!!!!!!

Yeah…. I had a great big smile on my face.
Thanks Kate!!!!!!
The First of Two Nashville TEA Parties
The Mr and I would have gone to this TEA Party, as well as the one on the 2nd, but I had that doctor’s appointment today, so we couldn’t do it. Of course, I wanted to see what coverage I could find from the ‘media’. Isn’t it interesting that the very liberal Boston Herald pretty much parroted the very liberal Tennessean? Hmm….
From Boston Herald:
Anti-Obama protesters hold ‘tea party’ rally in Nashville
Several hundred people have gathered in front of the Tennessee Capitol to protest the policies of Democratic President Barack Obama.
The event marks the third time this year that protesters have held “tea party” rallies in Nashville.
Monday’s lunchtime protest filled about half of Legislative Plaza, a much smaller turnout than the previous rally in April that was part of a national turnout on tax day.
From The Tennessean Political Blog:
Tea Party, Take 3
Okay, tea party wrap-up time. Some guards at the state legislature and I put our heads together and we’re going to spitball the crowd estimate at 250 to 300 people. The crowd filled about half of the plaza.
Star of the show? Bernadette Ash, hands down. People lined up afterward, hoping the Nashville Army veteran would autograph their protest signs. Not bad, considering Ash says that was the first political speech she’s ever given.
From Nashville’s Channel 5 News:
Thousands Protest Obama Policies In Nashville
Four thousand local protestors took over Legislative Plaza Monday to protest a new energy initiative by President Obama. The “tea party” protest also took aim at universal health care.
The event marked the third time this year protestors have held similar rallies in Nashville.
“More than half of Americans feel the way I do,” said protestor Karen Entz. “That should be represented on the national news, and it’s not.”
From Tennessee Tea Party:
A Great Turnout at the Middle Tennessee Liberty Rally!
The Middle Tennessee Liberty Rally had a fantastic turnout today at Legislative Plaza in Nashville, especially considering it was on a day when no other rallies seemed to be taking place. There wasn’t a huge push from national media helping to drive attention to the rally.
Speaker after speaker roused the crowd, peaking somewhere near 2,500 (despite what the Tennessean’s political blog, In Session, thinks). A common complaint among tea party detractors is that the rallies are just a bunch of rich, white people getting that get together to complain and moan, only to go home later and change nothing. Well first, “rich white people” is not what we have ever seen at one of these rallies. And second, not a one of us at the rally expects to see our representatives buckle at the news of some 2,500 people showing up to decry their excessive spending and overreaching government control.
A “couple of hundred”. 4000? Hmmm….
The next one will be on the 2nd, and we WILL be there, along with many other people!
Note: I’ll be looking for bloggers reactions, so if you have a link, please share it so I can post it, K? Thanks!

Heroes Among Us
With all the garbage that has been in the news recently, I like to share things that made me smile. First
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) – Police said a 71-year-old man, armed only with an ice scraper, frustrated a 20-year-old would-be robber who approached him with a knife. Police said the man was scraping ice off his car Friday when the 20-year-old pulled out a knife and demanded money.
Police Sgt. Pete Ragnone said the man used his ice scraper to fend off the attacker—who then ran to his girlfriend’s home nearby.
That’s when a fight broke out between the 20-year-old and his girlfriend.
The would-be attacker surrendered to police and faces charges of attempted first-degree robbery and aggravated assault-domestic violence.
And then there’s this one:
FENTON, Mo. (AP) – A legally blind man was credited with saving a woman after authorities said a 45-year-old man broke into her apartment on Saturday night. Authorities said the man, a convicted rapist, was waiting for the woman to return home from work.
A neighbor who asked to be identified only as Jerry heard noises coming from the apartment. Jerry is blind in his left eye and has about 25 percent vision in his right eye.
Jerry told KTVI-TV that he went to the apartment and kicked open the door, surprising the would-be attacker, who locked the door. The woman came home and confirmed she didn’t know the man in her apartment, and police took the suspect away.
The man was charged with burglary. The investigation is continuing.
Heh! I love it when the bad guys lose!

And They Say Palin Wasn’t Vetted….
Sources close to New York Governor David Paterson say it looks like his choice is going to be… you know…. Caroline Kennedy who will…. you know…… fill the senate seat vacated by….. you know….. Hillary Clinton.
New York Gov. David Paterson says the search is ongoing, but two people close to him tell The Associated Press they believe Caroline Kennedy will be appointed to replace Hillary Clinton in the U.S. Senate.
Following continuing criticism of Kennedy, Paterson on Thursday threw down the gauntlet. Though Kennedy appears to be the front-runner to replace Clinton, Paterson said the next junior Senator from New York will have to win re-election on his or her own.
I’m not sure what he’s basing his choice on but it’s defintely not on experience or looks…… You know.

AutoMOAB Day 3
Yes, those near bankrupt auto maker’s CEO’s are still in Washington begging for money.
I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, “How could these poor corporations possible afford to send these CEO’s to The Hill to testify when they don’t have a pot to piss in?”
Why they plop their big fat butts in Private Jets of course!!!!!
All three CEOs – Rick Wagoner of GM, Alan Mulally of Ford, and Robert Nardelli of Chrysler – exercised their perks Tuesday by flying in corporate jets to DC. Wagoner flew in GM’s $36 million luxury aircraft to tell members of Congress that the company is burning through cash, asking for $10-12 billion for GM alone.
**********
While Wagoner testified, his G4 private jet was parked at Dulles airport. It is just one of a fleet of luxury jets owned by GM that continues to ferry executives around the world despite the company’s dire financial straits.
**********
Ford CEO Mulally’s corporate jet is a perk included for both he and his wife as part of his employment contract along with a $28 million salary last year. Mulally actually lives in Seattle, not Detroit. The company jet takes him home and back on weekends.
Mulally made his case Tuesday before the committee saying he’s cut expenses, laid-off workers and closed 17 plants.
“We have also reduced our work force by 51,000 employees in the past three years,” Mulally said.
Yet Ford continues to operate a fleet of eight private jets for its executives. Just Tuesday, one jet was taking Ford brass to Los Angeles, another on a trip to Nebraska, and of course Mulally needed to fly to Washington to testify. He did not address questions following the hearing.
The cost of each round trip from Detroit to Washington is $20,000.00. The cost of a coach ticket on NWA is $288.00. First class is $837.00 on NWA.

Check out this video I found over at Peter’s place.
WOW…… This was the “intellect” of the average Obama voter? Wouldn’t it be nice to know what kind of hope and change you’re voting for before you cast your ballot?
Do you think the impending “Fairness Doctrine” will affect the MSM? When you listen to Rush or Hannity, you know what you’re getting. They don’t claim to be anything but conservative. The MSM claims to be neutral and unbiased. REALLY? Will the MSM be held accountable?
Check out Peter’s complete post at the Underground Conservative. He’s got some more numbers for you to digest.

UAW Handout
This is pretty much a no brainer. Yeah I know, the execs get paid too much, but the fact is that union contracts and the auto companies operating with a technologically inept status quo mentality is what’s driving these companies in the tank.
It is a mistake to use part of the $700-billion rescue package to reward high-tax, non-right-to-work states such as Michigan, says Peter Flaherty, President of the National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC).
“The automaker bailout is actually a UAW bailout,” Flaherty said. “The union will not allow companies to deploy capital in ways that the market would dictate, such as closing plants and layoffs.”
Under Frank’s legislation, car companies receiving bailout money would face tougher restrictions on executive pay and dividends to their shareholders, the A.P. reported.
NLPC says the UAW wants additional taxpayer money to enrich health and retirement plans it controls. Indeed, UAW President Ron Gettelfinger has urged Congress to act immediately to provide a separate, additional $25 billion in loans so auto companies can meet their health care obligations to more than 780,000 retirees and dependents.
President-elect Obama faces a dilemma, Flaherty said. “If he provides a short-term fix now on the UAW’s terms, these companies are doomed. Later, he will face requests for even more taxpayer money.”
NLPC said the automakers’ biggest problem is union contracts. Stock prices drop when shares are overvalued, but union contracts stay the same, the group noted.
To subsidize these contracts is unfair to other automakers – even foreign automakers — operating in the United States. “It was foreign companies that brought hybrids to market,” Flaherty noted.
“If the purpose (of the requested bailout) is to save jobs, then automakers are nothing more than jobs programs. There are more efficient ways to create jobs, like cutting taxes,” Flaherty concluded.
Like I said in a previous post…. Let em crash…. Let them file for bankruptcy, nullify the union contracts and start fresh.
Socialism at its Finest….
The Zimbabwe government has start is cutting the food rations it’s handing out to it’s citizens:
A series of poor harvests have left many Zimbabweans chronically malnourished. Across vast swathes of the countryside one meal a day is the norm – and more than five million people are expected to need food aid by the end of the year.
The WFP is distributing supplies to four million people this month, but said it had had no response at all to an appeal for an extra $140 million (£90 million) in October, and its stocks would start running out next month as a result.
It is cutting rations from 12kg (26lb) of cereals a month to 10kg (22lb), and reducing pulses from 1.8kg (4lb) to 1kg (2.2lb).
“It will unfortunately mean that at the end of the month our beneficiaries will be in a slightly more vulnerable state and hungrier than if they had received a full ration,” said Richard Lee, the organisation’s spokesman in Johannesburg.
He was “surprised” at the lack of response from its donors, who are mostly Western governments. Some observers have suggested that the global financial crisis may be responsible, while others attribute it to waiting for the country’s power-sharing negotiations to be concluded.
Hey!! Aren’t we the West? We must not be giving them any money. What was it Rev. Wright said about America?
Agriculture has been destroyed by President Robert Mugabe’s mismanagement, with the commercial sector ruined by land seizures and even subsistence cultivation suffering from a lack of seeds and fertiliser, and government-controlled prices that do not give farmers any incentive to produce a surplus.
Land seizures, government-controlled prices, NO INCENTIVE TO WORK DUE TO HAND OUTS!!!!!
Let me get this straight, if you give people a bunch of handouts, they don’t get off their butts and actually work and production goes down. Hmmmmmmm. Sounds like a presidential campaign socialism.
Contrary to Mr Mugabe’s claims that the West is responsible for the suffering of Zimbabwe’s people, the US has already given the WFP $105 million, and Britain $18 million.
Wait a second. The United States gave Zimbabwe 105 million in aid so far, more than any other nation, and we’re responsible?
Am I missing something here Rev Wright?
