Mini nuclear plants to power 20,000 homes
Nuclear power plants smaller than a garden shed and able to power 20,000 homes will be on sale within five years, say scientists at Los Alamos, the US government laboratory which developed the first atomic bomb.
The miniature reactors will be factory-sealed, contain no weapons-grade material, have no moving parts and will be nearly impossible to steal because they will be encased in concrete and buried underground.
The US government has licensed the technology to Hyperion, a New Mexico-based company which said last week that it has taken its first firm orders and plans to start mass production within five years. ‘Our goal is to generate electricity for 10 cents a watt anywhere in the world,’ said John Deal, chief executive of Hyperion. ‘They will cost approximately $25m [£13m] each. For a community with 10,000 households, that is a very affordable $2,500 per home.’
**************
The reactors, only a few metres in diameter, will be delivered on the back of a lorry to be buried underground. They must be refuelled every 7 to 10 years. Because the reactor is based on a 50-year-old design that has proved safe for students to use, few countries are expected to object to plants on their territory. An application to build the plants will be submitted to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission next year.
‘You could never have a Chernobyl-type event – there are no moving parts,’ said Deal. ‘You would need nation-state resources in order to enrich our uranium. Temperature-wise it’s too hot to handle. It would be like stealing a barbecue with your bare hands.’
Of the few countries that will be expected to object, you count on one of those being the U.S.
Obama, the democrats in congress, and the environmental wackos will see to that.

Public Education At Its Finest
I heard this on Vicki’s show and stopped by Michelle Malkin to see it for myself.
This was from a Finnish documentary about Obama supporters filmed at a school in Cumberland County, NC near Fort Bragg.
Be prepared to be angered….
This is woman is on tape browbeating a 4th grader then completes her interview by saying she didn’t browbeat anybody. This is the type of education our public schools are providing. This woman’s English is terrible and she’s pushing her agenda in a way that belittles a 4th grade grade girl in a way that she can’t really comprehend leaving her in near tears……
Your tax dollars at work.
Scary Eeeeeevil Sarah
I came home yesterday to find the TV tuned to CNN. Why? I dunno, but it was on. I thought I would check it out for a bit to hear what wonderfulness Obama had done on this particular day but, low and behold, I was subjected to almost a whole hour of chatter about whether or not Sarah Palin was a DIVA on the campaign trail.
The fact that CNN, a wholly own subsidiary of the Obama Campaign, would take an hour off of blowing smoke up their newly crowned messiahs butt to continue the useless bashing of Palin proves that they’re still worried about her for some reason.
I found this interesting…. ANNOYING!!!! But interesting.

Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

Not A Good Start
The Obama era of redistributing the wealth is off to a rather rocky start. Heck it’s not even redistribution problems. He’s not paying the people that actually worked for him.
WTHR Indianapolis:
Obama campaign workers angry over unpaid wages
Indianapolis – Lines were long and tempers flared Wednesday not to vote but to get paid for canvassing for Barack Obama. Several hundred people are still waiting to get their pay for last-minute campaigning. Police were called to the Obama campaign office on North Meridian Street downtown to control the crowd.
The line was long and the crowd was angry at times.
“I want my money today! It’s my money. I want it right now!” yelled one former campaign worker.
My goodness. What’s he going to do when the people who haven’t earned anything start screamin’?
YES WE CAN!!!!! Whatever.
