Civil rights group says school censored students

The Southern Poverty Law Center sent a letter to the Hardin County school system after a student said she was prohibited from publicly supporting gay rights in school.

The civil rights group said in a release that a student at Hardin County High School said that she was told by an assistant principal that she could not display slogans or symbols supportive of gay rights because those symbols advertise or promote sex.

The group also said the assistant principal terminated a student organized “Week of Pride” event to show support for gay rights and threatened students with suspension, class failure and disqualification from graduations.

SPLC said that unless the school takes action, it will file a lawsuit. The county superintendent did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

It’s quite obvious that the morons at SPLC know absolutely NOTHING about Hardin County! First off, you can throw a rock in any direction, and hit a church. Not a bar, a church! Second, the school is well within it’s rights to prevents students from promoting any kind of sexual behavior. I wonder if they’d get their knickers in a twist if a student was told he/she couldn’t wear a “One Man + One Woman = Marriage” shirt? I seriously doubt it! How about a student who wears a shirt depicting the American flag? Highly unlikely!

The purpose of this group is to promote that which is contrary to nature. Yes, some of the groups they title as ‘hate groups’ really ARE hate groups, but many they peg with that title are no more than a group of people trying to save their country….something that the SPLC, and organizations like them, are vehemently opposed to! I’d have to call THEM a hate group, because, apparently, they hate anything that promotes the Law of Nature.

You know, if these types of groups were more concerned with the health and well being of our kids, they’d do more to promote Biblical values for our kids, instead of encouraging them to push themselves into poverty with unwanted pregnancies, and an ‘alternative lifestyle’ that does more harm physically, mentally, and emotionally. Just sayin’.

Seriously? Homeland Security? Why on earth would Homeland Security have diddly to do with a building maintenance? Wouldn’t that be more like the, oh…I dunno….maintenance department?

I must admit, when I saw this headline, I was quite happy to see that someone was finally taking notice of an epidemic that has plagued society for way too long!

TN House passes bill for tougher domestic violence penalties

Then, I read the content!

The state House of Representatives approved tougher penalties for domestic violence, including a minimum of 30 days in jail for second-time offenders.

30 days? SECOND TIME OFFENDERS? I’m speechless!

House Bill 2389, a measure put forward by Gov. Bill Haslam in January, passed the House Wednesday morning on a 98-1 vote. Lawmakers generally supported stricter punishments for domestic violence, and the only concerns raised about the bill dealt with the cost to local jails and that it did not require first-time offenders to receive counseling.

In my opinion, this bill doesn’t go near far enough, but there was one person who voted ‘nay’, Rep. Eddie Bass
D-Prospect, District 65. The answer as to why is below. The concern about cost to local jails is also a question…when does the life of a woman become more important than the cost to the jail? And why not charge the offender, you know, the guy that beats the crap out a woman, rent for his time spent in said jail? Why not give FIRST time offenders 30 days, and insist on ‘counseling’? Not that it does all the much good, because generally, those who abuse once, find it so easy to abuse again, and again! But there are a few who might realize they have a problem and actually WANT to deal with it. It is possible.

The measure mandates a minimum sentence of 30 days for second offenders and 90 days for people convicted three or more times. Along with shifting supervision of felons and tracking sales of prescription drugs and methamphetamine precursors, increasing penalties for domestic violence was a major element of the anti-crime package Haslam announced before the legislative session.

90 days. And what is the penalty for the person who ends up in the hospital? Or the morgue? 120 days? Are they serious? Have they never seen the damage, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally, that is done to victims in such crimes? It’s not just the woman, or in some cases, the man, who suffers long term damage. There are usually children involved, whether or not they receive abuse as well, there are scars that go deep, and only with a lot of help, will those scars start to heal. They never go away completely. And in many cases, the cycle continues with those who witnessed the crimes.

Supporters said tougher penalties are needed to combat Tennessee’s high rates of domestic violence. Tennessee ranks fifth in the nation in the rate by which women are murdered by men, according to the Washington, D.C.-based Violence Policy Center.

And do these supporters consider 30 or 90 days “tougher penalties”? I sure don’t! Do you know there is not one single shelter in this entire area for battered women? Nowhere for them to escape, and attempt to start a new life, with aid and guidance? NOTHING! I know, because I asked. Why? No, I’m not battered. Now. But I wanted to volunteer my time to help. Nothing! I wanted to start one, but I have no money, and evidently, there isn’t much interest in helping get one started. I didn’t know where to go to ask, but those I did speak to, said they’d check around, and then….nothing.

State Rep. Eddie Bass, D-Prospect, cast the sole vote against the measure. Bass presented an amendment before the vote that would have required the state to foot the full $5.8 million cost to incarcerate offenders longer in local jails.

As I said previously, charge the offender for the cost of housing their sorry asses.

His proposal was rejected. Supporters noted that they already had agreed to reduce the penalties from Haslam’s original proposal — 45 days for second offenders, 120 days after that — to save money.

While they’re ‘saving money’, how many women will be beaten to death? To say I’m more than disappointed in our legislators would be an understatement. Oh yes, I’m glad they realize their is a problem and have taken a few steps, but those steps do not go far enough. If I had my druthers, I’d vote for public flogging, in front of all the offender’s friends and family, co-workers, neighbors, and anyone he, or she, has come into contact with throughout their entire lives. After flogging, stocks and pillory. Then jail, which, of course, they would pay for themselves!

Abuse isn’t just physical. It’s also mental and emotional. Those scars run deep, and Tennessee just helped to make them deeper!

Rep Vance Dennis Newsletter

This week, House lawmakers took a major step towards accomplishing long-time goals of everyone who is concerned about economic growth in Tennessee by advancing two bills that will do away with the death tax in the State and lower the sales tax on food.

For the first bill, the amended legislation includes a full repeal of the death tax phasing it out over the next four years. By 2016, the tax will be completely eliminated. Tennessee is one of only two States in the South with a death tax.

The food tax cut, House Bill 3671, reduces the food tax from the current rate of 5.5% to 5.25% after an amendment was placed on the bill this week by legislators. Representative David Alexander (R—Winchester) was given the responsibility of running the legislation by House Majority Leader Gerald McCormick (R—Chattanooga).

Speaker of the House Beth Harwell (R—Nashville) said, “The House Republican Caucus made repealing the death tax a priority this session because we know it will help family owned farms and small, family owned businesses operate with certainty. I look forward to continue moving it through the General Assembly.”

Ok, getting rid of the death tax is an excellent idea. Not that we have anything to worry about anymore….Obama managed to fix that problem right well with his economic plans. BUT, it has never made a bit of sense to me that the government, on any level, believes it is entitled to the fruits of someone else’s labor during his/her lifetime. That money has already been taxed while the person was still breathing! Just because said person has ceased to breathe does not mean his/her family is should be penalized through taxes.

As for the food tax, well, once again, it has never made any sense. Food is a necessity, NOT a luxury….although if the prices keep going up, it just might become a rare luxury. But let me ask….is cutting the tax on food from 5.5% to 5.25% really going to be saving Tennesseans all that much on their grocery bill? The cost of a gallon of milk, or a pound of butter has risen by leaps and bounds over the last couple of years, much more than that .25% that they would be allowing us to keep of our own money. Now, if they REALLY want to make an impression, cut out the food tax altogether. Ok, maybe that isn’t an answer, but at least cut it by a FULL 1%!

A Shelby County mother faces contempt-of-court charges and possible jail time for baptizing her two children without the knowledge or consent of her ex-husband.

This week the Tennessee Court of Appeals said Lauren Jarrell must face a criminal contempt hearing for violating a court order that said major decisions regarding the religious upbringing of her two children should be made jointly with the children’s father.

Both parents are Christian. Emmett Blake Jarrell, the father, is a member of the United Methodist Church, and she’s a Presbyterian.

Are these people serious? Baptism IS a big deal, but honestly, I don’t see the difference between the Methodists and Presbyterians. I’ve been to both, and they are quite similar in ‘rituals’ and teachings. Depending on the church, they’re both pretty left in my opinion. But that’s not the issue.

The father, according to court records, thought the children should be baptized when they are older and better able to understand the significance of the baptismal ceremony. The couple, according to court records, had even consulted a minister when they were married because they couldn’t agree what age was best for the kids to be baptized. Records show the children will be 5 and 7 next month.

I was about a year the first time I was baptized. My dad was Lutheran, my mom was Presbyterian, and I was baptized in the Lutheran church. My understanding was that it didn’t matter where, it just mattered if anything happened to me begore I was old enough to understand the whole process, you know, like DIE, or some such, that I would have a slot in heaven. It made my parents feel better. Then, I was raised in the Presbyterian church. It started changing back when, and that pretty much put a stop to my church attendance. Of course, I was also going through “that stage”. I don’t suppose the father has considered that the mom was concerned about her kids souls? Yes, it’s a decision that the kids can make when they are older, but no one ever said you can’t be baptized more than once. I’ve done it 3 times.

“Obviously she knew that the father did not want the children baptized at that age and she did that without telling him,” Memphis attorney Any Amundsen, who is not involved in the case, said of the mother. “She violated the court order.”

Where’s all the hoopla about ‘separation of church and state’, which doesn’t exist, but it’s always dragged out when anyone has the audacity to go against someone’s ‘wishes’. And let me ask this….if they are both REALLY Christians, why are they divorced? I know that sometimes, things happen and that 2 people can no longer live together as man and wife, but usually, it’s because at least one of them are NOT really Christian, and they are not following the teachings of Christ. Just sayin’.

The Court of Appeals decision sides with the father, who had asked that his ex-wife be convicted of criminal contempt after discovering that she baptized the kids against his wishes.

A lower court has already found the mother in contempt of court. The appellate court decision overturned that decision and said criminal contempt proceedings are more appropriate because the mother can’t undo the baptisms.

Yeah…ok…so they were suppose to discuss the important issues, and yes, baptism is a very important issue, but honestly, it seems to me that the father is being petty. It doesn’t sound like his concern is for his kids, but getting back at his ex-wife for making a decision, I would assume, in the hopes that her children will be saved? It’s not the water that is the most important part of baptism, although, yes, it is meant to ‘wash away sin’, but it is symbolic. What is important is the cleansing of the soul, and that is a decision the kids will make as they get older.

Court records show that the mother argued that it was wrong for the lower court to find her in contempt it was tantamount to preferring the father’s religious views on baptism over hers.

But the Court of Appeals disagreed.

Why are the courts even involved? Does daddy have ties with the legal system? Just askin’.

“Mother is correct that courts `must maintain strict neutrality in cases involving religious disputes between divorced parents’ and they may not `prefer the religious views of one parent over another unless one parent’s religious beliefs and practices threaten the health and well-being of the child,” Judge Alan E. Highers wrote. “However, simply put, this is not a religious dispute.” Highers said the court is only being asked to determine whether the mother can be found in contempt for failing to follow the court order.

Well yeah…actually, it is a religious dispute. Obviously, I don’t know all the facts…just what I’m reading here, but it actually sounds like a power play. Mom is concerned for the kids’ salvation and dad got his knickers in a twist because he was left out. There’s a reason why he is the EX, meaning former, husband. I’m rather curious as to whether or not he’s a control freak. Just speculation on my part. And I do not understand why this was part of the divorce agreement to begin with. This is a very personal matter, and not one for the courts to decide.

Nashville attorney Helen Rogers says the courts ought to stay away from these kinds of decisions.

“How would a court decide between baptizing a Presbyterian and a Methodist or a Catholic,” Rogers asked. She wondered whether a court could step in and order the child of a Muslim and a Jew to attend a synagogue or a mosque. The problem, she said, is that the standard parenting plan in Tennessee orders many parents to mediation if they can’t jointly decide on major decisions involving religious upbringing. If they can’t agree even after mediation, she said, it ultimately means that a court has to decide.

Why does the state have ANY say on how or where a child should be brought up, or baptized? To me, that is a complete violation of personal liberty.. personal RELIGIOUS liberty!

“The bigger kind of global look at this is should religious decision-making be a private matter or should it be something that a court orders to begin with,” Rogers asked.

That would be a ‘definitely NOT!”

However, Amundsen said the courts are only following state law, which says the courts have to consider religious upbringing when it comes to parental decision making.

Both attorneys said it’s not unusual for parents to disagree on religious upbringing.

Why are the courts involved, at all, in ‘parental decision making’? Someone got their head screwed on wrong, and forgot that the parents have the final say in their kids’ upbringing?

If the mother is convicted, she could face up to 20 days in jail and a $100 fine.

She can’t undo the baptism, and daddy should pull his head out of his hinder, and let it drop. The kids are more important than him and his desires. Yeah, I understand he wanted to be involved, but shouldn’t the salvation of his children come before his wants? Seems to me, that’s what mom’s concern was when she took this action. Unless, of course, it was to get back at him for some reason, which has been known to happen on a regular basis. Women can be quite vindictive. Then again, so can men. There is no mention of whether or not the kids wanted to be baptized, and really, shouldn’t THAT be the first consideration, of both the parents, and (*gritting teeth*) the courts? Seems to me that neither the court or the dad are considering what would happen to the kids if mom spends 20 days in jail. As for the fine? Well, I’d be happy to take up a collection if it comes to that!

A proposal to legalize medical marijuana is advancing in the state House.

The House Health Subcommittee approved the measure on a voice vote on Tuesday after similar measures had quickly failed in previous years.

I’m not one of those people who thinks legalizing drugs is a good idea, but when it comes to medical marijuana…that’s a whole ‘nuther story! The problem with the medical version? Well, it doesn’t work as well as the stuff from the good old days. You know the stuff they didn’t add a bunch of dangerous stuff to that could kill you, or make you totally nuts. The real NATURAL pot!

Democratic Rep. Jeanne Richardson of Memphis, the bill’s main sponsor, said the measure would create the toughest access standards among the states that have enacted similar laws.

In Richardson’s words: “Medical cannabis is no longer a radical idea — this is not Cheech and Chong with a bong.”

Ok, gotta admit! That cracked me up! I could tell ya why, and the connection, but I’ll refrain. Hey…I wasn’t always an OL’ broad, y’know!

Republican Rep. Joey Hensley, a Hohenwald physician, raised concerns that doctors aren’t trained on how to prescribe marijuana.

Seriously? Most doctors are pretty up to date on new medical procedures and such, at least I should HOPE so, and I’ve no doubt that if this bill passes, they could require all doctors who would be affected go to class or some such. From my understanding, the pill version doesn’t really help all that much. I can tell you from experience, a LONG time ago, that smoking it DOES help migraines, and the nausea that goes along with it. I had one for over a week…saw the doctor 3 times, gave me meds that did NOTHING! Got talked into trying it, took a few hits, and voila! Cancer patients lose their appetite, and going through treatments makes it worse. Many suffer from a LOT of nausea. What does pot do? Well, it gives you the munchies, which would aid in the loss of appetite, and it works wonders on nausea. FACT! Luckily, the Mr wasn’t one of those who suffered from any of the side effects from the treatments, but he sure could have used an appetite. Since he’s been declared cancer free, this hasn’t been an issue.

The companion bill has yet to be scheduled for a hearing in the Senate Government Operations Committee.

Now, I’m none too fond of Dem politicians, but in this case, I am hoping Republicans will do some research, talk to people who have had to suffer through migraines and cancer, and their families. Talk to actual doctors who have dealt with medical marijuana, and I don’t mean those pot shop types out in California. I mean legitimate doctors!

In typical Democrat fashion, any ability to fight voter fraud is being blocked. This is nothing new for them, it’s been going on quite a while. The latest target in the corrupt Democrat machine of Barack Obama and Eric Holder is Texas. There are people here in Texas who are just as fed up as those in the rest of the country with the constant blatant racism of this Attorney General and his minions.

Demonstrating the need for Texas’s law, a Texas-based group called True the Vote has found many instances of the very voter registration irregularities that Voter ID is designed to prevent from turning into fraudulent votes, and thus to shield our elections from some of the easiest to perpetrate forms of corruption. They found particular problems in the Houston-area district of Democratic Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee who, as usual, cried “racist!”

I know it’s not funny, but I can only chuckle when I hear Shelia Jackson Lee spouting her ‘racist’ line. Doesn’t matter what it is about, that’s her battle cry, and too many follow along blindly. What is racist is the obvious fraud that has been perpetrated on the American people, of all colors, by the Democrat Party. This isn’t new. Since the days of Reconstruction, the Democrats have been targeting white AND black Americans. Their history is steeped in racism and violence.

Don’t believe me? Go to the National Black Republican Association website, read for yourself. Educate yourself on the REAL history, and who it has been, closing in on 2 centuries, that has fought any progress for black Americans. Talk to people like Alfonzo Rachel, Stacy Swimp, and Lloyd Marcus. Learn from Thomas Sowell, Frantz Kebreau, Kevin Jackson, Starr Parker and many more. Listen to Representatives Allen West and Tim Scott.

Ya just gotta love those Dems who equate voter ID with ‘bringing back Jim Crow‘. (My goodness, that’s one extremely ignorant woman! Y’all should be embarrassed!) Well, they should know better, since it was the DEMOCRATS who enacted those laws. But even they are willfully ignorant of their own history. Or perhaps they choose to keep their followers blindly in the dark? Apparently, it’s another one of those important tidbits that is being left out of our public school system. Why would the Democrats, and their ‘strong armed unions’ want our kids to learn the REAL history of the country?

One of the points in history that is being overlooked took place after WWII, when the veterans were coming home, trying to make their way, and fit back in to their home towns. Last week, I posted a video by Wild Bill who touched on the subject of McMinn County Tennessee. Yesterday, Doc sent me a video from a ‘made for tv’ movie covering the subject as well.

Please note, it was Democrats who perpetrated this fraud on the citizens.

There had been long-standing concern in McMinn County about political corruption and possible election fraud.[1] At citizen request, the U.S. Department of Justice had investigated allegations of electoral fraud in 1940, 1942, and 1944, but had not taken action.[1][2] The wealthy Cantrell family (supporters of the Democrats’ New Deal policies in the 1932 Presidential elections) essentially ruled the county. Paul Cantrell was elected sheriff in the 1936, 1938, and 1940 elections, then was elected to the state senate in 1942 and 1944, while his former deputy, Pat Mansfield, was elected sheriff.[1][2] A state law enacted in 1941 had reduced local political opposition by reducing the number of voting precincts from 23 to 12 and reducing the number of justices of the peace from fourteen to seven (including four “Cantrell men”).[1] The sheriff and his deputies operated a fee system under which they received a cut of the money for every person they booked, incarcerated, and released; the more arrests, the more money they made.[1] Often, buses passing through the county were pulled over and the passengers were randomly ticketed for drunkenness, whether guilty or not.[1]

In the August 1946 election, Paul Cantrell was once again a candidate for sheriff, while Pat Mansfield sought the state senate seat.[1] After World War II ended, some 3,000 military veterans (constituting about 10 percent of the county population) had returned to McMinn County. Some of the returning veterans resolved to challenge Cantrell’s political control by fielding their own nonpartisan candidates and working for a fraud-free election.

The purpose of Voter ID is to prevent fraud. The purpose of the Justice Department of Eric Holder and Barack Obama is to insure it. You need ID to do business with your bank, and buy alcohol, and rent movies, buy a vehicle, etc. In Mexico, you need a Voter ID.

In 2010, the Associated Press posted this video, and NPR reported on the large number of people who lined up in Haiti to get their Voter IDs.

In India, you can even register to get your Voter ID online. And yet, here in the U.S. of A., there are racist groups, like the NAACP and the Democrat Party who are fighting tooth and nail to prevent legally qualified citizens to prove they are legally qualified to vote in our elections. The NAACP has even taken their case to the United Nations, that bastion of freedom and equality. /snark If it weren’t so utterly pathetic, it would be down right funny considering the recent history of THAT bunch of racists and bigots!

Just to be clear, the nations comprising this supposed champion of human rights include dictatorial and oppressive regimes like China, Cuba, and Russia. (source)

Just in case you were unaware, the author of the piece is Ken Blackwell, an American, who just happens to be black.

When you stop and think about it, do you honestly believe the people of Minnesota are really so stupid as to elect a very bad comedienne to the Senate? If they are, then perhaps they shouldn’t vote? Just sayin’.

It is my opinion that the Democrats fear they cannot win on their record, so they must resort to fraud. When the truth comes out about their records, it really is a very ugly picture that is painted. We NEED proof that voters are not breaking the law. We need to know our vote counts. We don’t trust the government, and for good reason. I’d really hate to see something like the incident in McMinn County happen again! Maybe that’s exactly what those who oppose legal voting are hoping will happen?

Santorum wins Tennessee

Rick Santorum won Tennessee’s Republican presidential primary on Tuesday, giving the former Pennsylvania senator a key victory in the South.

With 12 percent of precincts reporting, Santorum had 41 percent to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s 28 percent.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who won his home state of Georgia on Tuesday, was in third place with 20 percent in Tennessee, despite campaigning heavily in the state. U.S. Rep. Ron Paul had 8 percent.

I do have to admit, this does make me happy. Of course, I would have been happy if Newt had won the state as well. But, since he didn’t, but did win Georgia, this whole thing is getting more interesting. Santorum also won Oklahoma, which is a good thing. Unfortunately, it seems that Mittens won in Vermont, Virginia and Massachusetts. Right now, it looks like Santorum is in the lead in Ohio, but they’re saying it’s too close to call with Rick at 38% and Mitt with 36% (9:14pm).

Now, my question….since Ron Paul is barely making a showing in most states, will he do us all a HUGE favor, and drop out? When it comes to fiscal issues, he’s a whiz. It’s when he starts talking about foreign policy….Katie bar the door…the man’s cheese done slid off the cracker! AND, if he does drop out, will he please tell his supporters to stop acting like horse’s patoots, and join the rest of us in working to get Barack Hussein Obama OUT of the White House? I mean, after all, this IS what we need to do to save our country!

Vance Dennis today announced plans to run for re-election to the Tennessee House of Representatives.

Calling himself a “proven conservative,” Dennis said he works hard to create jobs, balance the state’s budget, and cut taxes for working families and senior citizens.

“I am running for state representative because I want to improve the quality of life for all Tennesseans,” Dennis said. “I will continue to work to create new jobs for our region and to provide the best educational opportunities for our children.”

“Vance Dennis is a true conservative.
I should hope he’s gonna run again. Gracious sakes. I can’t imagine him not being our rep! Now, if I could just convince him they need to knock off the nanny nonsense, and allow businesses to decide whether or not they allow smoking…. Hey…does this mean I’ll get to go to the dove hunt this year? The knee should be healed up by then, shouldn’t it?

Haywood principal quits over anti-gay remarks

Haywood County High School’s principal has resigned after a national civil rights organization said she made anti-LGBT remarks and threatened to expel gay students.

A statement released by the Haywood County School Board’s law firm, Purcell, Sellers & Craig Inc., said Principal Dorothy Bond tendered her resignation Thursday.

“The Haywood County Board of Education acknowledges its student body’s right to free speech,” the board said in the statement. “Further, the Haywood County Board of Education strives to provide an atmosphere of tolerance and diversity while maintaining high academic standards.”

So…what was it that she said that was so horrible that the ACLU had to butt their noses in?

In the news release earlier Thursday, the ACLU said it had received reports from parents and students that during a school assembly, Bond said “gay students are ‘not on God’s path’ and threatened to expel them if they publicly showed affection for members of the same sex.”

And? First, it happens to be the truth. If you read God’s Word, you’d find that homosexuality is considered an ‘abomination’. But since they have removed God from education, it’s an anything goes world, and it’s just peachy keen to let kids wander down the wrong path. And second, do the schools allow straight kids to make out in the hallways? PDA (public displays of affection) are typically frowned upon. If the straight kids can’t do it, and would likely be expelled, then why should the LGBT bunch be able to get away with such behavior? It has nothing to do with whether or not a kid is gay or straight, it has every thing to do with common courtesy, and proper public behavior. I guess that’s not taught anymore either, since it’s such a bastion of ‘tolerance and diversity’. Pfft! Nothing more intolerant than those who shout the loudest about tolerance. But this wasn’t the only ‘crime’ the principal committed.

ACLU officials said they were told by parents and students that Bond also said “life is over” for girls who became pregnant.

I dunno…is it just me, or wouldn’t you think parents would prefer their teenage daughters NOT to get pregnant? Ask any teenage mother how her life is going, and likely, they’ll tell you…’I have no life anymore’. So, once again, the principal was correct. Once you have a baby, you’re entire life is tied up with that child. You don’t get to go out with friends, you are always either working to pay for the sitter and a few essentials, or you are living off your parents, or you are taking tax payer money to provide for a child. If, as a pregnant teen, you decide to go the liberal route, and murder the baby, you will always have that in the back of your mind, plus the odds of breast cancer go up. I won’t even mention the botched job that could end up killing the girl as well. It does happen, and more frequently than people might think. Then there’s always that chance that because of that action, the odds of having children in the future, when you are grown up enough to deal with a child, you might not be able to conceive. There are a LOT of reasons why a teen’s life would be ‘over’. Wouldn’t you think that parents would want their kids taught the realities of life?

It really is way past time for us to bring back the concept of ‘shame‘!

TICS employees have been receiving inquiries from some Tennessee FFL about whether we have heard anything about Wal-Mart intending to start selling handguns in March.

This morning I contacted the person in Bentonville, Arkansas who oversees Wal-Mart’s firearms program. Here is his response to my question (direct quote):

“We have no plans to sell handguns in any state in the near future (except for Alaska where we currently sell and have always sold handguns).”

So, if you have someone tell you Wal-Mart intends to sell handguns in Tennessee, you should realize they have no clue what they are talking about and MAY be blowing smoke at you for some ulterior motive.

So, after a week and a half of utter misery (cold + damp = PAIN), the good Lord saw fit to give us a beautiful day…sunny and 65 degrees! Lord, how I love the South! Except for the cold and damp and more snow that I ever care to see again in my lifetime, but I’ll survive.

The Hardin County Republican Party and the Pickwick Republican Women hosted a lunch for our Congresswoman, Marsha Blackburn. It was really nice to see some folks I haven’t seen in quite a while due to all the health issues we’ve had going on. Our state rep‘s lovely bride, Ashley sat with us, one of my favorite patriots, Jerry Key (yep, the same one I frequently say “Shared by Jerry” on numerous posts), and Suzanne, the new president of the ladies bunch. Plus N’Gaoi, Kay, and even Dot. There were a LOT of new faces. Gracious sakes! I gotta get back into the swing of things. *shakes head*

While waiting for Marsha, Jerry gave the invocation, and a darn good one it was too! We DO need to pray for those in power, and do our best to direct them BACK to our foundings….UNDER GOD!

After Jerry spoke for a few minutes, praising his fellow patriots from his years in the service (fighter pilot in Vietnam), Suzanne began her introduction. Sorry….I tried to get a picture, but my phone copped an attitude, and the few I got mostly didn’t turn out too well.

Now, I have to laugh, because while introducing Marsha, she kept referring to her as Senator Blackburn. When Marsha did take the floor, spoke about all the work the House is doing, and the Senate is not, she opened up the floor for questions.

Sorry….rather fuzzy. Phone issues…again!
So, me being me, I had to ask: “Since Suzanne has already given you the promotion, will you be running for the Senate?” Her response….with a smile, of course….”I’m running for Congress.” *snap* We could sure use a strong conservative like Marsha in the Senate. sigh…

There were numerous excellent questions, covering a variety of topics, from spending to national security, and the Iran/Israel situation. She stands with Israel too! There was even a ‘birther’ who got a shot in? *shakes head* Oh well, if ya don’t ask the questions, ya never know, right?

I actually did have a serious question for her, but she wrapped things up, so I had to wait until she finished speaking to a few folks.

My serious question: “Since the House controls the purse strings, why is they can’t stop the funding of a variety of things…just cut them off?” Well, it’s the same problem with trying to get a budget passed. The House passes one, with cuts to duplicate programs and such, and the Senate just sits on the bills. Yep, ol’ Runnin’ Harry Reid, the most useless being in Congress, refuses to allow anything to come to the floor. We’ve seen it time and time again. Thanks ever so much, Nevada, for sticking us with that…..person…..AGAIN! Next time around, I don’t give a flip who is running against him, just get him the hell out of the Senate! Sheesh!

And, of course, I did have to ask, once again, if she had considered running for the Senate. Lamar Alexander – RINO, has said he isn’t going to go for another term, so….. sigh… Couldn’t pin her down. Oh well. I’d love to see either her, or Stacey Campfield, take that seat.

If the anger and momentum continues like I saw this afternoon, I feel pretty good about the outcome. But we have GOT to do the work to get it done. First thing, make sure you are registered to vote. Second, get up off your hind end and GO VOTE! I don’t want to hear “but my vote won’t count” crap! We are going to have to battle a boatload of fraud, so YES, your vote just might make the difference between winning and losing!

I’ve no doubt you’ve heard all about the uproar caused by CAIR concerning the training of the New York Police Department using a little film called “The Third Jihad“. They are even going so far as to demand the resignation of the Police Commissioner. I’d really like to know….who gave this Hamas linked terror group so much power over what we do, or do not do, in the training of police officers? If the jihad fits…….

What you may not have heard about is the training session in Rutherford County, Tennessee. Unfortunately, Tennessee has been the recipient of a large number of muslims, and for our law enforcement officers NOT to be trained in how to counter any terror threat brought by said ‘immigrants’ would be pure negligence! CAIR, of course, has its nose all up in the LEO’s business. Perhaps, if CAIR, and other such muslim groups, weren’t consistently violating OUR 1st Amendment rights, if they would denounce the war on innocents, refrain from destroying our Constitution and trying to replace it with Sharia, we might be inclined to listen. However, instead of acclimating themselves to the country in which they live, the goal is to force the majority into following the minority. If they don’t like it here, they are quite free to return to their place of origin, where they hang homosexuals, stone women for being raped, murder their children for their ‘honor’ and cut off the heads of the heads of anyone who disagrees with them. But please, don’t expect us to fall into line with your teachings of the murderous pedophile and his fake god.

And just who is running the other ‘training session‘, and why is it so secret? Are they bringing the fox into the chicken coup? Enquiring minds want to know!

The folks of Murfreesboro, DeKalb County, and from around the state, did their best to prevent a mosque from being built in their community. Evidently, the city powers that be don’t give a flip about the safety of their citizens, and allowed the building to go forward. Now, there are even bigger problems, and naturally, the city powers aren’t addressing the issues. Honestly, I don’t understand how we continue to allow these people to invade our cities and towns. Some will say it’s a 1st Amendment issue. IMHO, since Islam isn’t a religion, but a cult of politics, it isn’t covered under the freedom of religion, not to mention the teachings violate many of our laws, and common sense.
