Yes! Make It Go Away!

25 August 2008, 10:44 am. No Comments. Filed under Feckless Weasels, UN.

Yes, I do actually read some of the ‘opposition’ stuff on occasion. And sometimes, I even have to comment on it in a post. Here’s an occasion that cannot be passed up! A little piece over at HuffPo by Johann Hari:

John McCain’s Secretive Plan to “Kill the UN”

But McCain does know one thing: he doesn’t like the United Nations. He championed George Bush’s appointment of John Bolton as the US Ambassador to the UN — precisely because Bolton scorns the UN as “irrelevant” and “a twilight zone.” He even announced “there is no such thing as the United Nations.” It was like appointing Marilyn Manson as Ambassador to the Vatican. This is part of a long seam of thinking on the American right: they opposed the UN’s creation by Franklin Roosevelt as an unacceptable fetter on American power, and have never been properly reconciled to it. Republican congresses have refused to authorise US dues to the UN — so there is now a backlog of $2.8 billion outstanding.

Yet McCain cannot oppose the UN outright — because the American people support it so passionately. Contrary to the yokel-myth, a typical opinion poll — by Global Public Opinion — just found that 64 percent of Americans think the UN is doing a good job, compared to just 28 percent who support George Bush. Some 72 percent of Americans want the UN to play a bigger role in their foreign policy.

Ok, McCain just went up a notch or two in my book. I don’t like the Useless Numnuts either. Do I really need to list the reasons? Probably not. Most thinking people KNOW this ‘august body’ is a bunch of anti American, anti Israelis, anti gun, anti women, pro world tax, thieves….dang…the list goes on and on. Murderers, rapists?

So, we “owe” $2.8 billion? Do I give a flying flip? I think it’s time to condemn that building up there in New York, and kick the whole of ‘em out! They want to move? Buh bye! I heard Toronto was willing a while back. Better yet, perhaps they should move the whole shebang to Dafur? Zimbabwe? The Congo? How ’bout Babylon?

I’m fairly sure the original idea was for nations to work together to ensure peaceful resolutions to conflicts. Pfft! They’ve failed miserably, and have even encouraged conflicts, murder and suppression of free people. Does this sound like an effective organization to you? Nope, me neither.

Lofty ideals, while they make those folks ‘feel good’ aren pretty useless if they can’t be implement without major harm to the people they are suppose affect.

The United Nations Millennium Declaration: The Goals is an example of just how out of touch with reality that bunch really is.

Peace, security and disarmament

International rule of law — Strengthen compliance with decisions of the International Court of Justice and provisions of the UN Charter; take concerted action against international terrorism; redouble efforts to counter world drug problem, transnational crime;

Let’s see. “Concerted action” involves sitting around, making up ‘resolutions’ to tell rogue nations “No no…bad! Mustn’t do that!” Yup….real affective, as we’ve seen in recent years. How many resolutions did they pass on Iraq? What are we up to now on Iran?

UN and armed conflict — Give UN the resources needed for conflict prevention, dispute resolution, peacekeeping, peace-building and reconstruction; strengthen cooperation with regional bodies;

Resources involves a great deal of tax payer money to put little blue hats on some of the worst criminals seen…..Peace Keepers! Pfft! They only keep “pieces”, not peace.

Disarmament — Strive to eliminate weapons of mass destruction; call on States to consider acceding to Landmines Convention; end illicit traffic in small arms, light weapons

This is one of those that REALLY disturbs me. In the long run, what they are ‘asking’ is for decent, law abiding citizens give up their right to defend themselves from above mentioned blue hatted thugs. Unacceptable! And anyone who supports such a move is also unacceptable, whether it is a candidate for the POTUS, or a regular citizen of Australia. NONE of us should accept such a blatant attempt to ‘take over the world’!

You can go and read the whole column, if you want. I’ll sum it up for ya…… UN good! US bad! Shocker, eh?

Don’t Think He’s Dangerous?

Obama Supports Global Tax From United Nations
Christine O’Donnell

For an entire week, Americans watched as Senator Barack Obama took his act on the road, courting the European elitists and cowtowing to an endless array of foreign politicians. At this point it may be easy to take Obama’s “celebri-plomacy” lightly. Yet, his trip highlights a dangerous threat to America’s national sovereignty in the form of his globalist policies that will diminish America’s role in the world and outsource decisions of vital national interest to the United Nations.

His Global Poverty Act, currently under consideration in Congress, is just one such policy. Despite its seemingly innocuous title, the Global Poverty Act would force America to adopt the U.N.’s “Millennium Development Goals” as official U.S. policy. This means outsourcing to the United Nations all important decisions concerning the use of U.S. foreign aid dollars. Not only that, but the fee for allowing the U.N. to play the “middle man” in our global war on poverty would be a tax of .7 percent of the U.S. Gross National Product. That’s right. Barack Obama and his liberal allies such as Senator Biden have signed on to a bill that would allow the U.N. to tax America (and Americans) an estimated $845 billion over the next 13 years. Obama’s plan represents perhaps the greatest affront to our national sovereignty since the War of 1812.

The Global Poverty Act dismisses the American ideals of a free-market economy and responsible government for a global bureaucracy that has already lost tens of millions in development funds to corruption. The measure demands virtually no accountability or reform from the impoverished and often oppressive nations who are the recipients of our charitable largess. Furthermore, the United Nations Development Program has become the favorite “rich uncle” of terrorist states and rogue regimes, accidentally funneling millions to North Korea’s illicit weapons programs and violating 95 U.S. export laws in the process.

Critics Demand Resignation of U.N. Official Who Wants Probe of 9/11 ‘Inside Job’ Theories

Critics are calling for the resignation of a U.N. official who publicly supports investigating theories that the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were an “inside job.”

Right. This is what the U.S. government does, destroys the most recognizable buildings in the world. I suppose the possibility of murdering 50,000 people was just a bonus?

Richard Falk, the special rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories, investigates alleged Israeli violations of human rights law for the U.N.’s Human Rights Council.

But the former Princeton professor would also like to investigate whether “some sort of controlled explosion from within” destroyed the Twin Towers, he told FOXNews.com.

That explains a great deal: UN, human rights, Palestine, Princeton professor.

“I do think there are questions that haven’t been answered, questions about the way the buildings collapsed and the failure to heed a variety of signals that there was danger coming,” Falk said.

Has this SFB been listening to Rosie O’Dufus? It’s real simple, you see, when two large airplanes, carrying large amounts of fuel crashes into an immovable object, there’s this explosion. A fire starts, aided by those large amounts of fuel. Things get extremely HOT and steel actually DOES melt. I wonder if he’s aware of how they actually make the steel stuff that’s used in buildings?  Even a simple minded ol’ broad seems to have a better understanding than this yahoo.  I wonder, is there a PHD after his name?

“If he were a principled person he would recognize the fact that he has very extreme views,” Neuer said.

If he were a “principled person”, odds are, he wouldn’t have those views to begin with.

In 2004, Falk wrote the forward to “The New Pearl Harbor: Disturbing Questions About the Bush Administration and 9/11,” a book written by David Ray Griffin, a Sept. 11 conspiracy theorist.

Griffin’s book argues that the Twin Towers may have been brought down by a “controlled demolition” — not by two airliners hijacked by Al Qaeda operatives — and that the Pentagon may not have been hit by a plane at all.

Griffin “doesn’t take a so-called conspiracy view and he raises questions that haven’t been answered,” Falk told FOXNews.com. “I think [the book] deserved to be published and I have no regrets about that.”

Uh….that’s not a conspiracy view? Ok, so what is? Oh, and just where did those planes go, and where are the people? I reckon the gubmint has ‘em stashed in a secret base somewhere, perhaps the moon?

In an online article for the Transnational Foundation for Peace and Future Research last year, Falk — prior to his appointment as an unbiased human rights investigator — compared Israeli actions in Gaza to the Nazi treatment of Jews. This may have led to his appointment as the rapporteur for the Palestinian territories, Bolton said.

“He was picked for a reason, and the reason is not to have an objective assessment — the objective is to find more ammunition to go after Israel,” Bolton said.

So, who picked him exactly?

Neuer said Falk is not the only special rapporteur to bring a bias to the job. “You have people who are, I would say, a wolf in sheep’s clothing who are implementing the agenda of dictatorships,” he said.

When it is quite obvious this weasel brings a special bias, I have to wonder…… Just exactly WHY are we still members of this Useless organization and WHY are they still sullying our soil?

A Gulf in Giving: Oil-Rich States Starve the World Food Program

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and his top lieutenants on Monday are convening the first meeting of the U.N.’s Task Force on the Global Food Crisis. Ban says it will “study the root causes of the crisis,” and propose solutions for “coordinated global action” at a summit of world leaders in June.

Root causes? Well, that pesky fuel based on food sources might be a BIG cause. Not the only one, but a big one.

WFP internal documents show that the major oil producing nations of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) gives almost nothing to the food organization, even as skyrocketing oil prices and swollen oil revenues contribute to the very crisis that the U.N. claims could soon add 100 million more people to the world’s starving masses.

Well, considering the biggest oil producing nations are either Muslim or dictatorships, it’s not surprising they don’t give squat.

The overwhelming bulk of the burden in feeding the world’s starving poor remains with the United States and a small group of other predominately Western nations, a situation that the WFP has done little so far to change, even as it has asked for another $775 million in donations to ease the crisis.

Yep, the EVIL great “Satan” is the one they depend on for survival, yet hate. Well, ya know what? I’m of the mind that we need to pull all support from the UN. Do I want children to starve? Of course not. I don’t want mine too either, and at this point in time, I think the US needs to be reminded “charity begins at home”.

Donor listings on WFP’s website show that this year, as in every year since 1999, the U.S. is far and away the biggest aid provider to WFP. Since 2001, U.S. donations to the food agency have averaged more than $1.16 billion annually — or more than five times as much as the next biggest donor, the European Commission.

If I ever hear the lefties whining again about how we, as a nation, don’t do enough, I’m going to slap the dog fire out of them!

This year, the U.S. had contributed $362.7 million to WFP just through May 4, according to the website. That figure does not include another $250 million above the planned yearly contribution that was promised by President George W. Bush in the wake of WFP’s April warning that a “silent tsunami” of rising food costs would add dramatically to the world population living in hunger. Nor does it include another $770 million in food aid that President Bush has asked Congress to provide as soon as possible.

No, NO, and HELL NO! Not another dime!

On the other hand, Saudi Arabia, with oil revenues last year of $164 billion, does not even appear on the website donor list for 2008.

Ok, putting anger aside, do the Saudis give directly to those in need? Isn’t there a ‘tenet of Islam’ that says something about giving? Well, I don’t take their “tenets” too seriously, since they’ve been proven false day after day.

And while Canada, Australia, Western Europe and Japan have hastened to pony up an additional $260 million in aid since WFP’s latest appeal, the world organization told FOX News, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), the international oil cartel, tossed in a grand total of $1.5 million in addition to the $50,000 it had previously donated.

The OPEC total amounts to roughly one minute and 10 seconds worth of the organization’s estimated $674 billion in annual oil revenues in 2007 — revenues that will be vastly exceeded in 2008 with the continuing spiral in world oil prices.

Well, I’d say that breaks it down pretty well. In other words, about the time it takes to blow your nose real good!

Annan demands action on Zimbabwe

Former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan has urged African leaders to do more to address the crisis in Zimbabwe.

He said the situation was dangerous and could have an impact beyond the country’s borders.

Three weeks after polls were held, the presidential result has yet to be declared. Some of the votes in the parliamentary race are being recounted.

The parliamentary vote was won by the opposition, which insists its candidate defeated President Robert Mugabe.

Mr Annan made his comments to reporters in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, where he held talks with Zimbabwean opposition leaders on Friday.

“On the question of Zimbabwe there has been substantial international attention.

“The question which has been posed is: where are the Africans? Where are their leaders and the countries in the region, what are they doing?

“It is a rather dangerous situation. It’s a serious crisis with impact beyond Zimbabwe.”

Oh, NOW he cares? Where was he when all the crap in Africa was brewing during his tenure as Secretary General? Isn’t it amazing how much they expect others to do AFTER they leave office, yet don’t do dick while serving.  Just one more example of how Useless the Numnuts really are, and why we should kick them off the continent.

Israel Slow to Admit Gaza Patients, U.N. Says

A new report by the World Health Organization says that 32 Palestinians from Gaza have died in recent months largely because of Israeli restrictions that delayed their access to urgent medical treatment in Israel.

But Israeli officials rejected the findings on Wednesday. They said that the people who had compiled the report had never asked them about the cases, that Israeli officials had no records of entry permits being sought in some of the cases and that details of other cases were inaccurate. Israeli officials also said that the number of Gazans admitted to Israel for advanced medical treatment was increasing.

Well, isn’t that surprising! A Useless Numnuts rip off organizations doesn’t bother to check with BOTH sides. A better name for the UN would be I.N. Incompetent Numnuts! Because they aren’t just useless, they are also inept!

The report, released Tuesday by the W.H.O., the United Nations health authority, and covering October through March, says that in some cases permits to enter Israel had been late, while other applicants had been denied permits on security grounds. In five cases, the reason given for the delay was a lack of available hospital beds.

Most of the report was based on interviews in Gaza with relatives of the dead, and with Palestinian medical workers and other Palestinian officials.

Well what did they think they would say? That Israel is a wonderful place, and all is well, and we love the Israelis? Come on people! If you are going to make a report, you might want to make sure it’s an ACCURATE one. Jiminy Crickets! These are the same folks who are doing everything possible to destroy a nation and murder it’s citizens.

As usual, the New York Slimes headline is completely misleading. The headline SHOULD have read,

“UN Report Totally Flawed!”

UN: Humanitarian chief to visit Gulf states

The top United Nations humanitarian official will travel to Saudi Arabia this week in the first leg of a four-nation tour including the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Qatar.

Gee, I’m impressed. (insert sarcasm here)

John Holmes, under-secretary-general for Humanitarian Affairs and UN Emergency Relief Coordinator, is scheduled to arrive in Saudi Arabia on 5 April.

“The purpose of his visit is to strengthen collaboration and partnership between Gulf States and the United Nations in addressing humanitarian issues worldwide,” said the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

I think there is already a lot of collaboration going on between the Useless Numnuts and the Gulf States.

Holmes will travel with Abdul Aziz Muhammad Arrukban.

He was appointed last year as secretary-general Ban Ki-moon’s special humanitarian envoy to improve coordination between UN relief efforts and those of governments and aid groups in the Middle East and North Africa.

Been real affective, hasn’t he. (more sarcasm) I’m sure those who are starving thanks to the Numnuts “help” are REAL grateful.

They will meet government officials, senior representatives of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Red Crescent Societies to encourage their active support of UN humanitarian activities.

Will there be belly dancers, and much jocularity, along with the sumptuous meals paid for by the taxpayers of members states?

Holmes will also give the keynote speech at the Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference on 8 April.

Oooo…..I’ll be waiting with bated breath!

Pfft!

UN: End abuse of Afghan women

Jamila was married off when she was seven years old. Subjected to brutal beatings for nine years by her husband, she approached her father-in-law for help. For this “shame,” a family member shot her in the leg.

During a rare visit to her parental home, she sought a divorce. A jirga, or assembly of local elders who act as informal dispute-resolution mechanisms in the absence of a formal justice system in many parts of Afghanistan, rejected her plea and sent her back to her marital home.

Jamila, whose real name and location cannot be revealed for her own safety, was punished once again, this time by her father-in-law, who beat her, cut off one nostril, shaved her head and tied her with a rope before throwing her outside the house.

This type of stuff has been going on for years in Muslims dominated countries, and the Useless Numnuts just now are noticing?

“Violence against women exists in every continent, every country and every culture, and Afghanistan makes no exception, but the problem here in Afghanistan is that most of the cases remain unreported due to the severe restrictions women face in seeking justice,” he told Al Jazeera.

True, violence against women does exist in every country and culture, however most CIVILIZED countries will at least make the effort to bring justice to the perpetrator, not the victim.

“When the women or girls seek recourse from the government, they are further molested by the government representatives” and “most of the time women who report incidents of violence to the police end up in prison themselves”.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Punish the one who has been violated, abuse, maimed, etc. Uh huh.

The lack of representation of women in decision-making positions (only one cabinet minister is a woman and there are no vocal women in leadership positions), reinforces stereotypes that limit a woman’s role to the household.

Women’s rights advocates say this also engenders hostility to women who participate in civil society and public life.

Wasn’t the intend of our bombing the crap out of Afghanistan, other than attempting to get bin Pigladen, to free them from the oppression of the Taliban types? Seems to me, they haven’t made a whole lot of progress. I realize it’s “culture” thing, but seriously, what CIVILIZED culture condones such treatment of women, or anyone for that matter.

The strong shame associated with a woman leaving her home, even if as a victim of abuse, makes reintegrating into society and family nearly impossible.

If she returns home, the victim may be killed. If she does not return home, it is likely she will face more violence as a result of being an ‘unattached woman’.

Currently, Afghanistan has only short-stay provisions for emergency cases, most of which do not allow women to keep their children.

And where do the children go? Do they stay with the violent spouse? Not real smart, if you ask me. I wonder how many children have been killed as retribution. Is there a study on that?

A recent editorial in the government-owned Kabul Times offered a stark reminder of the widespread acceptance of violence against women in Afghanistan. The editorial, which ran four days after International Women’s Day on March 8, was titled “A few reasons for violence against women.”

“We always condemn men who beat their wives or sisters … but overlook what some women do to invoke men’s ire. To begin with, there are numerous obstinate, groggy, nagging, quarrelsome, stingy and arguing women in this country who disturb the peace in their families. When they get charged they go on and on till they provoke their husbands to beat them black and blue.”

The apparent justification of violence against women was written by Abdul Haq, the English-language newspaper’s editor-in-chief. The acting editor, S. Ghiassi, told Al Jazeera that Haq could not comment on the issue because he was ill and hospitalised.

Ill? Wasn’t he unconscious and unable to speak? I’d have to say he, and the piece of trash who wrote the opinion, are flat out sick SOBs.

A Unifem study, based on a primary database of violence covering 21 districts over a year-and-a-half during which 1,011 cases were registered, found that most of the cases of violence were a result of forced marriages.

The report also stated that the incidence of forced marriages is as high as 70 to 80 per cent, while 57 per cent of marriages are estimated to be before the legal age of 16.

The widespread prevalence of child marriage compelled Hamid Karzai, the nation’s president, to publicly address this issue on International Women’s Day, calling on religious elders to end this practice and the social custom of giving away girls as a means of settling disputes and debts.

Until this “culture” figures out that women are people, not commodities, nothing is going to change. Little girls will be abused, and murdered, women will die in childbirth, and no woman in Afghanistan will ever be able to be free.

If the Useless Numnuts really want to DO something, perhaps they should make an effort to “re-educate” the male dominated countries.
