I believe more and more after the Republican failure on Healthcare goes through. The only case of action that we have is to nullify this law through our state legislature's. We can get our states to agree for example not to make it a criminal offense to not carry this plan. Why should we put more people in jail when they did not really commit a crime? There are many reasons to attack this bill. It is a collection of good ole' boy paybacks just like the stimulus bill.
Start writing your state representatives now. Get them involved in standing up against this crap. There are things that could be done in smaller chunks like allowing the market to be open on health insurance. I am sure that there are other factors that can help drive costs lower. But let's not send a person to jail under this Peelousy bill!

Buried in his massive amendment to the Senate version of Obamacare is Reid's anti-democratic poison pill designed to prevent any future Congress from repealing the central feature of this monstrous legislation!
Beginning on page 1,000 of the measure, Section 3403 reads in part: ". it shall not be in order in the Senate or the House of Representatives to consider any bill, resolution, amendment or conference report that would repeal or otherwise change this subsection."
In other words, if President Barack Obama signs this measure into law, no future Senate or House will be able to change a single word of Section 3403, regardless whether future Americans or their representatives in Congress wish otherwise!!
Note that the subsection at issue here concerns the regulatory power of the Independent Medicare Advisory Board (IMAB) to "reduce the per capita rate of growth in Medicare spending." That is precisely the kind of open-ended grant of regulatory power that effectively establishes the IMAB as the ultimate arbiter of the cost, quality and quantity of health care to be made available to the American people. And Reid wants the decisions of this group of unelected federal bureaucrats to be untouchable for all time.

@Chuck First, I have to tell ya, I have no idea what all the gobbledygook code was in your comment, so I deleted it.

Second, I know a bit more about unions than most people give me credit. Contrary to the opinions of some who pop by to do a "hit and run" now and then, I'm quite intelligent, and fairly well read, especially when it comes to history. REAL history, not what's being passed off in the public schools these days as history. I lived through quite a bit of it. :)

Ok, to the issue. Why should UPS force their competitor to do anything? Seriously. Why? Because they are the competition? If UPS isn't happy they don't do as well as Fed Ex, perhaps they should look at the way THEY do business.

If you take a good hard look at the history of unions, you find quite a philosophical and physical connection with the Russian Revolution/communism. The "what's yours, is mine" mentality.

Was it right to do away with child labor? Oh, you're damn skippy. No kid should have to work 12-14 hours a day, in any job. Kids are suppose to be kids. Unfortunately, they aren't anymore....but that's a whole different issue than the one at hand here.

I have a bit of inside knowledge about the teamsters union, which I also won't relate. Suffice it to say, they aren't exactly above board, never have been, and probably never will be. I have some very good reasons to be anti-union.

Yeah, the unions did raise the income of many at one point in time, to the detriment of the society as a whole. Dictating what a company has to pay also raises prices of everything as well. The only people who benefited are the unions, not the employees, or the companies. Nothing has changed

Let's say I have a company that employees 100 people. That's 100 people with a job, an income, to put a roof over their heads, feed their children, and put a little aside each week for the future. In comes this union thug, telling me I have to allow union for my employees. I have to pay them a certain amount of money, plus add in a "free" health package, and a substantial pension plan. Well, what am I going to do? My employees are happy cuz I'm a good boss, and care about them, and their families, and do my best to make sure their needs are met, especially when it comes to safety issues. Now, I have to cut into any profits that could have expanded the business, and hired more people. Instead, I have to cut some of my employees because the company can't pay all these wonderful benefits. Jobs are lost, people are out of work, and the company is in decline. You see, I can't fire incompetent workers now and replace them with someone who will work for their income, cuz the unions say I can't. I lose business. Have to eliminate more jobs to stay afloat. And the cycle repeats until I have no choice but to close my doors. In the meantime, my personal salary drops as well, and my children may not get to go to college either.

You bring up the 60s and 70s. Were you around then? Did you watch the news? Did you see the cost of the 'family' car rise to the point fewer families could afford to buy a new one? Did you see Michigan go into a death spiral? Did you watch the price of milk rise? I did. I listened to my parents discussions. I watched my dad worry about paying the grocery bill. And he WORKED FOR THE GOVERNMENT! Back then, government employees weren't the highest paid, as they are now.

This whole issue about UPS v FedEx is the fact that one company does NOT want to be unionize, and the other wants to force it to do so. The push to apply trucking laws to airlines is just an excuse.

And I wouldn't mind doing away with lobbyists either. :?

I was just trying to find out a little about UPS’s effort to get Fed- Ex under the same labor laws as UPS when I found your web site. There sure a lot of anti union viewpoints out there these days.

Has anyone looked back at what the work place was like prior to unions? Child labor, mules held more value than humans where, you had to stand in line and hope the yard boss would pick you to work that day. And that’s only part of it.

Are there unions that have hurt companies? Yes. Are there companies that have taken advantage of there employees’? Yes. And, if what I think makes any difference, I don’t thing there should be any unions in government jobs but the private sector, yes.

Every company, manufacturing, retailers, business’ of all types have associations’ federations’ organizations’ est. that they belong to and for one reason, to lobby the government for laws to benefit there business’.
So, why shouldn’t the employees’ have someone to lobby the government them?

The two videos you had were so one sided and misleading it shows your lack of knowledge the history of UPS and Fed-Ex.

James Casey, the founder of UPS, came to the Teamsters and asked them to represent his employees’. UPS employees’ are some of the hardest working people you will every meet. They have a dress code that they must adhere to. Most drivers feel very thankful that they work there. And, I believe that if more companies compensated there employees’ the way UPS does the economy would benefit.

The way the labor market is heading these days is down. Just like what happened to the trades in the 70’s everyone is undercutting and the pay keeps getting less and consumption goes down.

You can’t blame all the problems of the auto industries on the unions. Remember the corporations’ agreed to the contracts and to there own salaries.

I could go on but it’s getting late, just remember at the unions peek in the 60’s and 70’s in the privet sector was only 20% to 30%. And that raised a whole lot of other workers wages.
Fed-Ex wouldn’t be paying there employees’ what there paying them if it weren’t for the Teamsters
