I have voiced my opinion on this issue here, and here, and am not about to change my mind because some judge says so. All of these cases are a violation of each individuals God given, 1st Amendment RIGHT to freely practice their faith. My faith is in the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, which give instructions on how to live our lives. Many of the laws that were written in the Old Testament were, shall we say, repealed, in the New. That’s why they call it the NEW Testament, or a new covenant. If someone is living a life apart from God, then we are free not to associate, or not do business, with them.
I wonder in how many of these cases, the particular business was targeted because of the faith of the owner, just so the ‘customer’ could bring about a law suit that would destroy the business? It’s a crime to vandalize a business, but it’s perfectly legal to go through the courts and do the same thing. Does anyone see a problem here? I sure do! I see a similarity in such persecutions, as well, just through the feckless court system.
Questions You’re Asking About Cakes, Gays, and Religious Freedom

Cases have been popping up across the country where individuals have declined to bake cakes or take photos for same-sex wedding ceremonies—and government has punished them. This week, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer (R) vetoed a bill that would have put religious liberty protections in place in her state. We sat down with Ryan Anderson, Heritage’s William E. Simon Fellow in Religion and a Free Society, to get some answers about this debate.
The Foundry: How did people’s beliefs about same-sex marriage become an issue for private businesses?
Ryan Anderson: In New Mexico, a photographer declined to use her artistic talents to promote a same-sex ceremony because of her religious beliefs. The couple complained and the New Mexico Human Rights Commission ordered her to pay a fine of nearly $7,000. Christian adoption and foster-care agencies in Massachusetts, Illinois, and Washington, D.C., have been forced to stop providing those services because they believe that the best place for kids is with a married mom and dad. Other cases include a baker, a florist, a bed-and-breakfast, a student counselor, the Salvation Army, and more.
Whose liberty is at stake? Is it just business owners’?
Was Mr Obama’s daddy turned down for a job at some oil company? Did his buddy Bill Ayers tell him oil was evil? Has Valerie Jarrett forbidden him to sign off on the pipeline? Just what is the hold up?
We all know Obama is not a leader, so he must be a follower, and the people who has chosen to follow do not have this country’s best interest at heart. If any of them were concerned with the economy, and the lack of jobs, they let would him sign off on the pipeline, and voila….jobs!
It wouldn’t just be jobs for those working on the line itself. There would be local jobs, too. The workers who come to build the pipeline have to have someplace to sleep on their off hours. Party on their off days. They need to eat. Odds are, they’ll need to buy some new undies somewhere along the way, too…right? See? Jobs.
There has been no credible excuse for Obama’s feet dragging, and now that all the reports and studies are in, there is even less reason. Consider all the trucks and trains that have to transport the oil now, having it travel through a pipeline to its destination, you’d think the greenies would be ecstatic to have that much less carbon tossed into the air. Whackadoodles!
All their so called green energy is nothing more than a drain on the taxpayer, does nothing to increase energy independence, and kills freakin’ birds by the thousands! But that’s ok with them cuz they’re the earth worshipers? Lack of logic overload!
Get with the program! Sign the damn piece of paper that would help this country. I’m not saying it would bring us out of the recession that everyone says is over, but it’s a good step in the right direction! Stop putting up walls! Let Americans do what Americans do best….thrive under their own power!
C’mon, Obama, Join the Energy Boom

An energy project that would be good for the U.S economy, can be built without taxpayer help, and would have little to no environmental impact?
That’s the Keystone pipeline President Obama keeps blocking.
A new environmental impact statement released Friday said again that the Keystone XL pipeline is safe.
“It finds that the pipeline, a Canada-based project to deliver up to 830,000 barrels of oil per day to Gulf Coast refineries, would pose no significant environmental risk and would not contribute substantially to carbon dioxide emissions,” explained Nicolas Loris, Heritage’s Herbert and Joyce Morgan Fellow.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again….there is SOMETHING in the water, or maybe the air, in D.C. that makes previously rational people into blithering idiots!
Are the Rs up there so out of touch with reality, they aren’t aware that they can’t trust Obama to do the RIGHT thing? They are assuming, just because it’s written into some law or other, that he will follow and enforce?
Assume – making an ass out of u and me!
Have they learned NOTHING? Oh…that’s right…this is all for votes so they won’t lose their seats to actual American who will remember, and uphold their oath of office! You know…that pesky piece of paper called the Constitution.
We have laws on the books regarding immigration. Laws! No one pays a bit of attention to them, so why would anyone, especially Obama and his cronies? Those are the same people who pick and choose what laws they want to enforce, and to hell with everyone, if they don’t like it!
I’m afraid the GOP has lost all sense of reality. Coddling a segment of the population to the detriment of the country is not a wise move. They want the ‘Hispanic’ vote. Well, if they are Hispanic, then they shouldn’t be voting. AMERICANS are the only ones allowed to legally vote in our elections, no matter the country of origin. Once you take the oath to become a citizen, you revoke any loyalties to any other nation. Period!
We SHOULD make the process easier for those who want to immigrate, become citizens, and assimilate. We should NOT let those who jumped the fence, literally and metaphorically, cut in line.
NO AMNESTY! Call it whatever you want, it comes out to be the same thing!
Immigration Plan: Trust Obama?

House Republicans say they are ready to move forward with an immigration reform plan—and it sounds remarkably like amnesty for illegal immigrants.
While avoiding key phrases like “path to citizenship,” the ideas put forth by congressional leaders this week would give legal status to people who are here illegally. It would just have more steps, including a probationary period, a work permit—and the government upholding a lopsided part of the bargain.
What the hell is the Food for Peace Act??? How about Food for Progress Act of 1985? Then there’s the Horn of Africa Food Resilience Program! I thought this bill was suppose to be about American farms, concerning the safety of food consumed by Americans. I thought wrong, didn’t I. Wouldn’t be the first time! What it looks like is a lot of rules and regulations, but hey…what do I know, right?
Are the Mariana Islands a U.S. territory?
After those little tidbits, we get to Title IV, aka Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, aka Nutrition Reform and Work Opportunity Act of 2013, aka food stamps!
I’ll be honest…from what I’ve read of this bill, it’s a lot of ‘striking’ this, and ‘adding’ that, and it really doesn’t say anything at all! Did anyone in the House read this? Do they even know what’s in it? Do they not care they are spending OUR money? Jiminy crickets! What a lot of gobbledegook!
Well, they did disqualify lottery or gambling winners from receiving aid. Reckon that’s a plus, eh? Well, at least until they spend all their winnings, and are once again in column B, or whatever it is!
Ok, now we have Sec. 4015 – MANDATING STATE IMMIGRATION VERIFICATION. Say whut?
Anyway, it looks like the learning skills and work program, as a pilot program, is back in, but not really. One thing I’ve always believe, even when I was the recipient of such aid…people should have to learn a skill so they could become gainfully employed, and the need for any such aid would diminish. There were few such programs back when I was in California, and I did try, but since I was very rusty on my typing, even though I passed the other tests with flying colors, they wouldn’t accept me into the program. It was demoralizing. And I’ve no doubt that for many, having to accept aid for doing nothing, is the same. Yes, there are way too many who would rather live off what other earn, but not all. They should be given the opportunities to pull themselves up.
Ok, I can’t take it anymore! No wonder so many Congress critters are clueless about the bills one which they cast votes! Apparently, you’d have to go back and read all the bills that have previously passed through Congress to get a partial picture of what this bill is authorizing, since that’s what it mostly refers to in the bizarre language they use!
Read the bill. Make up your own mind. The Farm Bill should NOT be combined with the food aid programs, especially those for foreign countries! From what I’ve read, there are, so far, 3 separate bills, all rolled into one. That is just wrong, and if the Congress is too lazy, or incompetent, to see the need for the separation, then perhaps we need a brand new Congress, made up of REAL citizens, who have lived in the real world, and understand how it works!
Congress is doing a great disservice to the American people. It’s rather interesting that more Rs than Ds voted for this bill, but thankfully, Marsha wasn’t one of them. I guess the Ds were mad cuz there was a 1% cut in food stamps? Well, it wasn’t really a cut. They just are spending 1% less than the increase was going to be. Don’t know how they get away with calling that a ‘cut’.
What Congress Did While You Were Talking About the State of the Union

Congress is very fond of two things: throwing a bunch of stuff into one bill and rushing bills through while Americans are focused on other news. While people were talking about the State of the Union, they’ve done it again with the $1 trillion farm bill.
We saved ourselves the aggravation, and changed the channel. Well, we were going to watch it, he came up to the podium, started to speak, and the Mr said, “I can’t take listening to his lies anymore”, I handed him the remote, and switched to the crazy woman channel. He calls it that because there are a lot of crazy women on it, killing and such. Ok, it’s really Investigation Discovery, ID, and there are crazy males as well, but…
From what I’ve read of the text of the speech, it was nothing more than another “I’m so wonderful”, “I am king of the world”, “those mean old Republicans”, “I’m gonna do what I want”, “ra ra me”, whining campaign speech. The very idea that any U.S. president would behave in such a manner is rather appalling, in my opinion. Yes, we’ve had a few who were a bit self centered, but none like this clown. For someone who claims to have taught (he was a guest lecturer that was likely forced on that institution) Constitutional law, he doesn’t know a damn thing about it, does he.
Many presidents have used the executive order for the good of the nation, or to proclaim some thing or other, but I don’t remember any of them, in my lifetime, or what I learned in history (back when they taught REAL history), ever using it to rule the peasants! We, mind you, would be those peasants! Everything is his way, or the highway, and that’s not a leader!!
Why do we have a Congress? They are our elected representatives, and this guy and his minion, Harry Reid, thumb their noses at them, and us. People talk about a ‘do nothing Congress’, but it isn’t the House that is doing nothing, it’s the Senate Majority Leader who refuses to work with the House to get anything done, especially if it goes against his ‘god’.
I pray we will get a strong R majority in the Senate, put Reid in the background, where he belongs, and start proceeding to impeach this evil SOB. He’s not an American, and I don’t mean where he was born! I mean he has no understanding of the American people, the battles and wars fought to preserve liberty, both physically and politically. He has no understanding of the American spirit, or the struggles true Americans have overcome.
Mr Obama, take that pen and phone, and shove ‘em where the sun don’t shine! You have proven yourself to be anti-American, and we have had enough!
The President Won’t Be Needing You

President Obama says this is a “year of action”—and last night he made it very clear whose action he was talking about.
After noting recently that he has a pen and a phone and can use those to make changes without the help of Congress, Obama charged forward with promises of taking executive action wherever lawmakers fail to meet his demands.
“This President has acted like the playground bully who when he can’t have everything he wants, he decides to take his ball and go home,” Heritage President Jim DeMint said yesterday. “This is not the way our government is supposed to work.”
I wonder what our Founders, those men who put in many hours, away from their families, working long hours into the night, risking everything, would say about the disastrous, over bloated, self centered, greedy, American hating, politicians we have today? If they could have seen into the future, would they have thrown in the towel, and said “Screw this! Those people aren’t worth our lives!”? Could very well be! They knew that if the government on the federal level gained/stole power from the states and the people, this grand experiment in freedom would be a failure. And so it has become. Yes, we still have more freedom in some areas than other countries, but not the types of freedoms that those men gave their all to accomplish.
I agree with Genevieve Wood! It IS time for Barack Obama to go on an “Apology Tour“….to the American people. He should bring along many of those in Congress to give their apologies as well, along with letters of resignation! They all took an oath to uphold the Constitution!
President: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
Congress: I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.
It is quite obvious to me that neither the POTUS, nor those holding seats in both houses have taken those oaths very seriously.
The State of the Union isn’t so peachy, especially under the watch of the current resident of the White House. The lies, distortions and cover ups have been monumental, even putting Nixon’s term to shame. Yes, an apology, and a resignation, are long over due!
7 Things It’s Not Too Late For

Presidents offer pie-in-the-sky visions in their State of the Union addresses. But if President Obama—and Congress—were willing to “roll up their sleeves” (another common State of the Union phrase) and work on some tangible good for Americans, Heritage experts have a few ideas.
The President is calling this his “year of action,” after all. Here are seven things he should work with Congress to do.
1. Save Americans from skyrocketing energy bills. It’s time to reverse the war on coal and stop the greenhouse gas regulations that will drive up energy costs for families—with no noticeable climate benefit. People—especially low-income Americans—need affordable, reliable energy. The President’s climate regulations will drive up household electricity bills and destroy jobs across the country without making a dent in global temperatures.
I’ve covered this topic so many times, it’s making my toenails ache! See here, and here, and here, and… well, you get the picture. I have 3 pages worth of titles covering the topic in one way or another, so yeah…I’ve voiced my opinion… in the most rational way I possibly can. I do try not to get riled up, but sometimes, I just can’t help myself!
On my very first job, I got paid $1.00 an hour, and a tip or two. I shampooed hair on Saturdays at a local beauty shop. I was 15. My second job was at a store called Rose’s, where the pay was a whopping nickle over minimum….$1.65. As I gained more experience in the public arena, my piddly pay increased, but believe me, when I worked, I earned every dime I ever made. I did what I had to do, and even though I never made it to the top of anything, I did end up a couple of times as a manager. I learned new skills, and got more pay as time went along. This is what people are suppose to do!
Was I a perfect employee? Is that a serious question? *snort* Were there times when I had no income, other than a stipend I got for AFDC, and a few food stamps? Yeah. It was almost impossible to make ends meet during those times, so I collected cans. Yep! I did what I had to do to make sure my kid and I ate. NO, I did NOT do that! Nothing illegal.
Back when, you didn’t ask about ‘benefits’. The benefit was having a job, and paying your own way, and learning a skill, and being responsible. THOSE are the benefits people should consider.
Whining about a ‘living wage’ is one of the reasons I find the whole issue disgusting. Minimum is not suppose to be a ‘living wage’. Grow the hell up!
Should We Raise the Minimum Wage?

In last year’s State of the Union address, President Obama called for an increase in the minimum wage. Since then, Democrats in Congress have argued that the President didn’t go far enough, proposing even more of an increase.

Yes, I did use the word hate. Hatred is the only explanation I can come up with to explain why the Democrats/liberals/progressives/commies are so dead set on killing the innocent. It’s not, as so many claim, about ‘women’s reproductive health’. There is nothing healthy about ripping a small, unformed or formed, child from the body of the one person in all the world that is meant to protect him or her.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
Thomas Jefferson wrote in the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence that all had a RIGHT to life, given by the Creator. No where, in either the document that proclaimed our freedom from a tyrant, or in the U.S. Constitution, does it ever state that anyone has the right to deny life to an unborn baby. NO WHERE!
Looking at the framers of the Constitution, we can learn a great deal. They were men of great faith, and in no way ever dreamed a woman would want to slaughter her own child in the womb. Such an action goes against everything for which they stood when they laid their lives on the line….for us. The Supreme Court overstepped its Constitutional bounds when declaring in favor of Roe V Wade. I would suggest people read the paper by Publius Huldah on the Judicial Abuse of the 14th Amendment!
What is the solution of unwanted babies? Adoption. It’s that simple! More than 55 millions babies could have had loving homes, if only they had lived. Who knows what they could have accomplished! We’ll never know! But we can save future generations! If only the left would realize that EVERY life has a purpose, large or small, it has a purpose!
Why They Marched, in Their Own Words

Despite temperatures in the teens and wind chills below zero, people from across the country marched in Washington, D.C., yesterday, to speak up for life.
They had different backgrounds—from the 15-year-old who said he “would do anything to support this cause” to the man who was conceived when his mother was raped: “I’m here today to make sure all life is protected like I was.” Read his powerful story here.
Mr Bucci says the enemy is harder to pin down now than it was previously. I beg to differ. The enemy is the same. Islam. Islam is the enemy of freedom the world over. Wipe out Islam, this particular war is over. It’s just that simple.
I doubt the victims and their families don’t give a flying flip whether it was the “A” team, or the JVs who murdered and injured. Mr Obama needs to pull his head out of his hinder, and face reality. He might have enjoyed that caterwauling as a kid, but it’s the ones doing the caterwauling that are murdering innocent people!
These Words from Obama Are Frightening — and Revealing

It’s less than comforting to hear the President make light of terrorist threats.
In a recent interview with The New Yorker, President Obama referred to today’s al-Qaeda fighters as the “jayvee” team.
“The analogy we use around here sometimes, and I think is accurate, is if a jayvee team puts on Lakers uniforms that doesn’t make them Kobe Bryant,” he said.
This shows that the Administration’s wishful thinking about al-Qaeda isn’t over. Obama and his fellow officials seem to think if you say something enough times, it will become true.
I wonder if the title of Mz Payne’s piece is a serious question? Why did the story change? Well, we have an administration that lies so easily, it makes all the guilty criminals behind bars claiming innocence look…well…innocent! Never in my lie did I think I’d ever see the day when the executive branch of our government would KNOW the truth, but prefer to lie. Even Nixon was in the dark for a while. Obama is not! Never has been! He claims to know nothing about anything, but if that’s true, then he should have replaced those he relies on for information a LONG time ago.
No, he knew immediately that Benghazi was carried out by terrorists. They all knew the situation in Libya was getting more dangerous by the minute, Ambassador Chris Stevens told them, but they did nothing! The State Department was well aware of the previous attacks on the Red Cross and the attempted assassination of the British ambassador, but apparently, because this was the U.S., “led” by The One, it didn’t matter that they were warned. Such arrogance got 4 Americans murdered, and many others injured.
Where was Obama during all this? We suspected, but now know, he was MIA. A good leader would have canceled any imminent events and concentrated on the crisis at hand. What did he do on 9/12, the day after four Americans were murdered? He flew off to Las Vegas for a fund raiser. I mean, after all, it’s more important to raise money for his re-election than to actually do his JOB as CiC!
The truth about lying is that once you tell that lie, you have to continue with the lie, which gets more and more difficult as the truth becomes available. This administration is notorious for the continuous lies. Hillary Clinton lied. Barack Hussein lied. Jay Carney lied. Even though the truth defied their lies, they continued with their narrative, as if the American people were too stupid to recognize lies when they hear them.
Sixteen months after the murders, no one has been held accountable. No one. Not those who failed to protect Americans, not one of those who are directly responsible for the attacks, not one single person has been ‘brought to justice’, as Obama declared on 9/12/11 (at 1:11 into the video), with Secretary of State by his side. If you continue watching the video, you’ll note that, once again, he holds Islam blameless.
If this man, or anyone in his administration, had any honor whatsoever, they would step forward, tell the entire truth, and resign. Yet, as we all know, integrity is not part of the Obama administration.
Why Did the Benghazi Story Change?

The truth about the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, is finally coming out.
An explosive intelligence report made public this week revealed that officials knew it was a terrorist attack that killed four Americans on September 11, 2012—and they knew right away. It also revealed that the lapse in security was preventable, based on intelligence the U.S. already had about the area.
These new answers are unsettling.
“Every step of the way, the White House’s response to Benghazi has been appalling,” said Heritage expert Helle Dale, who has followed the tragedy closely from the beginning.
Has anyone even read any of this monstrosity? Just the first section, Div A, Title I, which apparently covers a number of offices, is nearly $45 million. And I do mean offices, as in departments. Titled for Agriculture but includes the Department of Homeland Security, along with a number of other non related departments. Now, I really wish what agriculture…you know, corn, cows, and the like, has to do with DHS. Can someone please explain that one? And just why do all these departments need so much in operating costs? Advertisements? Yep….that’s in there too!
This bill covers costs until 12/31/16, which they had to amend since apparently, they just took the last wasteful spending bill, and had to slap a new date on it! Think about that. No one bothers to remove the programs, or at least to reduce the monies allocated for them, that are complete failures!
Anyway, it gets even better. Did you know we have a Department of Economics? Why? These yahoos in D.C. are incapable of adding 2+2? I’m sure we can provide them with calculators, since the ability to do simple math with a pencil and their own brain seems completely beyond their capabilities. I pray none of them ever get near my checkbook! I always have a surplus, and I’d really hate to see them blow it, and then some!
Office of Ethics? Seriously? Think about that! Ethics….politicians.
I haven’t finished the whole bill, since…well, hells bells, the sucker is 1500+ pages, and I’m a slow reader, not to mention, contrary to what I say on a regular basis, I DO actually have a life outside of the computer, y’know!
Honestly, there is really no excuse for the continuous failures of Congress to reign in THEIR spending. First, they need to look at the Constitution, and find out exactly where, and on what, they are authorized to spend OUR money. None of what I have seen in this piece, and elsewhere, including their ‘bill’ is covered in that document.
Bills are those things that come in the mail, and you have to pay them. Well, Congress writes bills, and guess who has to pay for them? WE do. They are very careless with OUR money. I’d call that inconsiderate and irresponsible. Rather like a spoiled kid with daddy’s credit card. The kid thinks he can do what he damn well pleases with that card and daddy will pay the bill, smile, and let the kid continue to abuse the privilege, even though daddy has told the kid, time and time again, to be responsible, that the card is only for necessities, and there will be consequences if said kid refuses to listen. Well, ‘daddy’ is getting royally pissed off, and is about to cut up that card. The spoiled kid has learned nothing, just like Congress!
If the members of Congress want to continue to fund failed programs, they can damn well use their own money. Ours belongs to OUR security and OUR roads. If they stopped their foolish behavior, we would not be seeing our military and veterans getting that shaft!
Time for Congress to get a spanking! Time for them to GROW THE HELL UP! Enough with the spoiled children spending OUR money on foolishness!
Government Failures Congress Wants You to Fund This Year

Wasteful, ineffective, failed.
Those are all ways Heritage experts have described government programs Congress is funding—with your hard-earned money—in its new trillion-dollar omnibus spending bill.
Here are a few big failures that need to be eliminated or seriously reformed—but instead are getting millions (or billions) of dollars.
Well now, isn’t that interesting. In just 5 years, we’ve dropped from #6 to #12 when it comes to economic freedom. Gee, I wonder why that could be? Oh, that’s right, we have the great regulator from hell, and his minions in charge of damn near every aspect of our lives. Business is a large part of our lives, in case you couldn’t figure it out! Every time you go to the grocery store to pick up bread and milk, you are paying for a TON of regulations that are totally unnecessary, and business killing, not to mention your wallet! Sadly, people just don’t think about such things, and blame the ‘big corporations’ for their woes, when all the while, their woes are caused by big government. Sad, isn’t it…that we should be so low on the freedom scale!
Once upon a time, there were people from all over the world who flocked to our shores, legally, searching for opportunities. Many found them, and their children made good on the sacrifices their parents made by getting an education, and succeeding in the business world. No, not all became tycoons, but they were able to live comfortably, and didn’t have to worry about anyone beating down their door, taking them away in the middle of the night, or being shot on their own front lawn by an out of control police force. Now? Well, there are many concerns. Oh, you can still succeed, make a few bucks to squirrel away, but those bucks aren’t really worth the paper they are printed on these days. It takes a lot more of them to buy that loaf of bread, all thanks, in large part, to the ever increasing regulations. Oh, and let’s not forget unions, but that’s a another post, which I have made many times!
Here’s an interesting little tidbit for you: Not only do Hong Kong and Singapore outrank us in economic freedom, but their kids are also better educated. I wonder if there is a connection? Hmmm… Just something to think about.
Yep, with the stroke of a pen, the inexperienced, and incompetent, Liar in Chief has dragged us down. Oh, Congress isn’t blameless! A large number of BOTH parties apparently believe themselves to be our caretakers. How do you explain to them that we are adults, and we don’t need them to take care of us? Vote them out would be my first suggestion. My second? Well, I’ll leave that to your imagination.
Here’s something for them to consider: If a product doesn’t work, or is found to be harmful, it’s not going to sell. Said company will hit the skids, and never be heard from again. It’s called a free market. We don’t need the government pushing products down our throats that we don’t want, or need. We don’t need folks, living in an ivory tower telling us what’s what. Oddly enough, a large number of us can figure out things on our own, even if the media (that includes news organizations, advertising irritants, and even the entertainment biz) pushes the lies. Some of us older folks got a decent education, unlike the whipper snappers trapped in failing schools these days, and by failing, I mean teaching the same lies. (Check out that video of the woman destroying Common Core!) Our kids are bound to fail with that kind of garbage being shoved in their brains of mush!
Education and economic freedoms are connected! If a kid grows up with a piss poor education, what are the odds that the kid will ever succeed? Yes, there have been a few who have, but that was a while back, when kids were free to use their imaginations, and were relatively bright. I’ve no doubt there are kids out there who could be the next Steve Jobs, but will never have the opportunity to find out. Said kid will be stifled by ridiculous regulations, and eventually, will just give up. Is that the intent of our government?
Just where will we be on that index by the time 2016 rolls around? One reason this year’s elections are so important is to put a stop to the march towards socialism, which is a definite economy killer. We need to elect men and women who understand the limitations of government, and the separation of powers. We need people who believe the oath they take, and will uphold it in everything they do. We must rid ourselves of the yokes that have been placed on us by people who haven’t lived in the REAL world for a very long time!
We want our freedom back!

The 20th anniversary edition of the Index of Economic Freedom reveals that the United States has dropped out of the top 10 freest economies in the world.
When President Obama took office, the U.S. was ranked 6th. Now it is 12th.

The news that the Ryan-Murry bill made cuts for our veterans (Title IV-Sec. 403) put the country in a tail spin. Well, most of us anyway Have they resolved that issue? I honestly don’t know. We don’t seem to get good news that Congress actually does something right for a change. We only hear the small tidbits the infamous “they” want us to know. Have you read this bill? Dear Lord! I’m fairly sure those we send to Congress to represent US hasn’t either!
If we all ran our households like Congress runs this country, we’d all be filing for bankruptcy. Such spending practices have put this nation into debt at levels never seen in our history. When Pelosi stated, “The cupboard is bare. There’s no cuts to make.”, I do believe she intentionally lied. Either that, or she is delusional, the botox has warped her brain, or perhaps she has Alzheimer’s? She’s no spring chicken, y’know. There are ALWAYS ways to make cuts in an over bloated government.
I honestly don’t understand why Congress can’t follow a very simple document called the U.S. Constitution! Seriously, it would make their jobs so much simpler if they did, and their approval rating would sky rocket! They have enumerated powers, a limit on what they are allowed to do, yet we allow them to go merrily on their way, doing whatever they damn well please, acting like kids in a candy store, spending our children’s children into debtors ‘prison’.

Passing bills to find out what’s in them… that was so 2010, right?
Any day now, Congress is likely to release the trillion-dollar Trojan horse that is the spending bill for 2014. It’s going to be big, and it’s going to be rushed. And few members of Congress (if any) are going to read it all.
Government budgeting isn’t supposed to be done this way.
Really? These are revelations? Pfft! I sure hope Mr Gates have more in his book than just has been reported so far, otherwise, it’s not going to sell very well. Although, come to think of it, there MIGHT be a few folks who have been in a coma the last 5 years!
It’s no secret Obama detests the military. He SHOULD be kissing their feet, because without our brave men and women over the years, there is NO way he would have ever be sitting in the White House, screwing up the country!
Does it come as a shock to any rational, thinking, person that this man/boy is incompetent? Gosh! Who knew?
Come on! Seriously, even the non drooling Dems could figure that out! Although, sadly, very few have had the cajones to stand up and say so! Really pathetic, in my humble opinion. They aren’t looking out for their constituents, allowing this boob to continue his socialist games. Unfortunately, there are too many Republicans doing the same thing, refusing to pull their heads out of their hinders! Those few that do speak up, are soundly thrashed from BOTH sides of the aisle, and the useless media. Can we say Pravda? I knew we could!
I doubt I’m going to buy the book. I have so many now, I may not finish ‘em all before I go toes up! Then again, I just might. Perhaps there is something in it that we don’t know, although highly unlikely.
3 Things You Don’t Need Robert Gates’s Book to Know

Excerpts from a new tell-all book made quite a splash in Washington yesterday. Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates apparently blasts President Obama on foreign policy and the U.S. military in his upcoming book, Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary at War.
But as Heritage’s James Jay Carafano said, “You don’t need a book from the former Secretary of Defense to know that many of the decisions Obama made during Gates’s watch were a disaster.”
Gates started as Secretary of Defense during President George W. Bush’s second term, and Obama asked him to stay on during his first term.
The revelations from Gates’s book come as no surprise to Heritage experts, who have been warning that Obama has made decisions based on his personal preference for domestic policy—at the expense of America’s standing in the world and our men and women in uniform.
Here are three things you don’t need to read the book to know.
It is NOT the job of the federal government to provide charity, for ANYONE! Johnson’s plan to make war on something that has always, and will always, be with us was not out of the goodness of his heart, but to lock up the vote of those who would benefit from his plan.
How to Fight Poverty — and Win

When President Johnson launched the War on Poverty on Jan. 8, 1964, he pledged “not only to relieve the symptom of poverty, but to cure it and, above all, to prevent it.” Sadly, the half-century legacy of Johnson’s Great Society has not lived up to that noble goal.
The War on Poverty has not done justice to the poor. Our responsibility to our neighbors in need demands more: a redirection of public policy and a commitment from each of us to do what we can in our own communities.
Despite spending nearly $20 trillion since the War on Poverty began, the poverty rate remains nearly as high today as it was in the mid-1960s. Today, government spends nearly $1 trillion annually on 80 federal means-tested programs providing cash, food, housing, medical care and targeted social services for poor and low-income Americans. Clearly, policymakers can’t hide behind reams of programs and billions in spending and declare they’ve done their duty to the poor. Good intentions aren’t enough.
We need to change the character of public assistance. That means redirecting incentives in federal welfare programs. “Sometimes those incentives encourage dependence, even for generations,” said Robert L. Woodson, Sr., founder and president of the Center for Neighborhood Enterprise, testifying before the Senate Budget Committee last year. Woodson sees firsthand the effects of these programs as he works with community leaders across the country to empower those in need to overcome adversity.
On the other hand, the right kind of incentives can “help people gain personal responsibility and pursue their dreams,” observes Woodson. Transforming incentives to promote personal responsibility has a dramatic effect: After the 1996 welfare reform began to require recipients to work or prepare for work, welfare rolls fell by more than half, and poverty rates among single mothers and black children fell to historic lows. But that reform redirected the incentives of only one program among more than 80 federal welfare programs.
As Woodson concludes:
So if we want to help those in need, we need to ask: Is the approach we are taking to relieve poverty by what we call the safety net actually helping or is it injuring with the helping hand?
In addition to promoting work, any serious effort on behalf of those in need must get serious about restoring marriage, America’s most important inoculation against child poverty. Children born and raised outside of marriage are more than five times more likely to experience poverty than their peers raised in intact families.
When the War on Poverty began, 8 percent of all children in America were born outside marriage. Since the mid-’60s, unwed childbearing has skyrocketed to more than 40 percent of all births, and from 25 percent to about 73 percent among black children.
Rebuilding a culture of marriage calls for policy reform to reduce marriage penalties in welfare programs. It also requires the kind of relational restoration that must happen on a personal level, through the work of churches and community initiatives like First Things First in Chattanooga, TN, that build relational skills. These and other efforts to overcome poverty should engage us personally in the effort to help restore lives, families, and communities.
Promoting work and restoring marriage “would be a better battle plan for eradicating poverty in America than spending more money on failed programs,” writes Heritage Senior Research Fellow Robert Rector in today’s Wall Street Journal, “And it would help accomplish LBJ’s objective to ‘replace their despair with opportunity.’”
